I have compared the sound quality of my W890 with my friend's Nokia 5310 XM which has a dedicated audio chip. And i must say that the sound quality of 5310 XM is much much better than my W890. 5310 XM had more stereo and the sound quality was very crisp and clear compared to the W890. But still the W890 is not that far behind. Only if SE includes a dedicated audio chip in the Walkman phones, it will beat Nokias and Samsungs hands down...

Great and mature way to put it, QVGA san.

Fact is that people are different, one will like it more, the other one won't.

The fact is that DSP makes the audio better, whether someone likes it or not, thats irrelevant. Why do you think the audio on newer phones like W910 is so god awful?

It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the phone having a DSP or not. There will ALWAYS be a unit processing the audio, ALWAYS. It does however have something to do with what kind of DSP it is, and that's what you're never talking about. It's always "Oh it's got a DSP, so it's muuuuuuch better", which is utter nonsense.

Another fact for you: It isn't god awful.

There is no point is arguing with you. If you think W910 sounds even remotely good then your standards are shockingly low.
Oh and there is always something for sound processing, and having something dedicated to ONLY sound processing; two very different things.

That's really the best you can come up with? No point in arguing with me? Nope, you're right, as you know I'm winning this argument.

So, W910 is not even remotely close to being good? I'm sure I could find, say, a thousand phones that are worse. You need a wakeup call, dude. Just because it's not ultra high-end, it can't be good?

Last time i checked it was a high end phone, at least that's what the price tag says. And who gives a crap if you have find a thousand phones that are worse, go find a million and it wont matter. The fact of the matter is that W910 is a miserable phone, it sounds even worse than W800 which is 2.5 years old.
Dont believe my subjective test? Go check the hardware RMA tests, they dont lie.
And i just said, if you think W910 sounds really good, then your standards are low, and there isnt anything you can do about it, thats just how you are. You get impressed with mediocrity.

Oh, so now it's a high-end phone? Don't think I've heard that one from you before... That wasn't my point though. In your eyes, it's either perfect or horrendously bad.

And yes, of course I'd take your word on it being a miserable phone. I am more than willing to take your word, even though it's coming from someone who doesn't know shit about SE phones and has absolutely no experience in the field.

And no, that's not what you said. You said, and I quote:
"If you think W910 sounds even remotely good then your standards are shockingly low."

Difference, wouldn't you agree?

I wonder if your results above are based on a retail unit, btw...

I'm wasting my time here. It's always the same with you. You're more than willing to argue rather than show proof. See ya.

gsmarena clearly mentions the RMAA ratings of all the phones, where the K850 beats the n81. So, if you dont trust gsmarena, well, i have nothing to say.

Is pointing out mistakes in my english and telling me you have more experience in the field the best you can do, you so called 'more experienced' guy in the field?
Run away if you want. Wont be the first time I'm sure. You might have had more experience in the so called field, but it only takes 2 ears to know whether something sounds right or not.
Again, it comes back to you not admitting that W910 doesnt sound good and is unworthy of being called a music phone, which, like i said before, is because your standards are low. Nobody in the world will admit his standards are low, its like have a crazy guy admit he's crazy, it just wont happen, and its just the case with you.

And what proof are you talking about? How can i prove that something sounds good? I've given you the RMA tests, thats the only proof for audio quality.

Like said before those RMAA ratings are messed up, either they had a proto N81 with bad software or they just did it all wrong. I have got both N81 and K850. The N81 is FAR better at sound quality, theres no denying it once you hear them both. The K850 has a great loudspeaker though, but via headphones it does not stand a chance against the N81, even the W960 couldn't.

The last SE phone that had decent sound was the W900i. Since then i have heard many Walkman phones with poor thin sound. Walkman means nothing its just a name does not mean its any good. The same goes for Cybershot most photography purists hate Sony cameras so Jessops told me. Hence the recent poor camera offerings from SE in camera and music. Nokia and Samsung on the other hand have gained ground. I listened to the Nokia 5310 and the sound was fantastic. My fave Nokia phone to date for sound was the N73. Think SE have gone off the boil to be frank.
