Sounds like all they were doing today was checking that it works. They aren't colliding anything today I think.

Anyway they seem quite proud of themselves because apparently everything is in full working order.

they reckon they will have significant data within the first couple of months. I presume that means they'll start to pin down the higgs-boson particle (if it exists) and observe antimatter.

The mayans didn't say it was necessarily the end of the world. They predicted it would be the end of time. Maybe the LHC will colapse the time continuum in 2012? That means we will all live forever, won't need watches, and will always be able to correct our mistakes before we make them.

We can't possibly move in space without accordance to time,can we?If we'd ever move backwards in time,we'd be walking backwards all the way till our birth and then pop.
