I'm with fatreg, themarquise, cycovision, jcwhite and the others who are tired of the never-ending hate wars. Over what - phones. A good amount of objectivity is what we need. Different people have different needs (or even preferences), and we all ought to respect that.
Nowadays, I just skip the wars - as tempted as I am to bash a few heads in anger over their non-objectivity Of course, doing that would only further add fuel to the furnace (as I discovered the few times I did bash).
I agree with what you've said, @AYA. I've always steered clear of flame-wars cos there's no use trying to reason with people who aren't prepared to take no for an answer.
@A L 3 X, sometimes age is not all that important, especially when the poster is able to communicate with a certain level of maturity, such as yourself. BUT, there is no denying that there are some immature posters who are not afraid to show their immaturity. Of course, there are some adults that behave that way too. I feel these people dilute the very essence of Esato.
@fatreg, thanks for this thread, it at least allows the more concerned Esatonians to have an outlet for our opinions. If the rumours about Dogmann leaving Esato are true, then I believe it is truly a great loss for Esato. I have not seen the controversial thread mentioned, but I've always found Dogmann's posts to be constructive and almost always backed with solid evidence, even in the face of harsh criticism.

i have the same feelings as fatreg and the rest here. When I first came to esato, this sort of thing was not common, in the past few months, its gotten out of control! Surely, people are matture enough to ignore these sort of comments, and not provoke any wars....
would like to get back to normal around here....

Just I would put my tuppence worth in.
I think one of the issues I have noticed on Esato recently is people's tone.
Like masseur says, competition is good and people comparing and discussing the features of different phones is healthy for any forum.
However, its when people don't treat each other with respect that it descends into sniping, hatred and name calling.
You can always tell when it is about to happen in any thread When people start using phrases like "get a life" and dismissing someones post as a "load of rubbish". Calling someone, "retarded"? etc etc
All because they prefer a different phone to you!!!
Respect - should be the order of the day.

Well I think there has always been fanboy wars, even when I first posted years ago but recently it has just descended into outright 'hatred' and there is no other word for it really. The great debates we had were entertaining and great to read but sadly a lot of those don't happen anymore.
I always look out for max_wedge's posts and dogmanns posts which you always learnt something from.
I hope we haven't seen the last of them.

Well esato always had a reputation for being friendly and I have seen plenty of people comment on it - I guess that is why its gets as many members as it does. When any new phones are announced / launched there is always an influx of new members and I just hope they get the 'right' impression and stick around.

I do hope massuer isn't right and we'll look back at these days as the good old days. Maybe one reason we're having so much tension is people aren't going to the garbage thread as much for good humored mud slinging match and the sor and instead choose to be dead serious about everything including the mud slinging And because people don't pass by the garbage thread as often, espesially the newer guys, we don't get to see and apreciate the lighter side of their personalities.
Maybe mods or through votes we can give some people that loose the handle, give them detention where they are only allowed to post in non-serious threads for a week for them to chill out.
This might also help find a new king of garbage as of late the creativity level there is on the low side.

Hi all,
I think most of what needs to be said has been covered in this thread already and of course i agree with nearly all of it.
We all enjoy a good debate and to argue our points and i certainly don't think it would be good if we all just praised every device and all agreed as that would make a very boring and unrealistic Forum IMO.
But in the last six months or so this has escalated way beyond control with people no longer debating the pros's or con's on anything but merely insulting each other and calling them Fan Boys and this goes on in both directions so i am not laying the blame with any one person or party. I have not left Esato let's be serious how could I, I love this place and most of what it's members have to say even if we disagree with each other either some of the time or all of it. Every one is entitled to his or her opinion and to express it, it just helps if you can support it with facts but even without them they are still that persons opinions and are as valid as anyone else's IMO. This is IMO the basis of a good Forum mutual respect for each other is of utmost importance we all need to be able to agree to disagree at least some of the time.
Until such time as this changes i do not intend to become active in any threads as it just seems futile and pointless currently, hopefully this will change and soon as at least now many of us are beginning to realise just how damaging this is for the Forum. I will still post things i feel may be of interest but for now that is all intend to do hopefully that will change over time.
This Forum already has many people that try and knock it on other Forums lets not give then any more ammunition lets prove just how good Esato is and return to civilized discussions so that Esato can return to being the best and friendliest Mobile Forum out there.
Marc
