Peter - don't worry about the security for the moment....
On the screenshot you posted; the third option below 'Basic Setting' says 'Wireless'.
What happens when you click on that link? Can you see something similar to the screenshot I linked to? I know it's not identical, it's probably a different model of router from the same company.

Just to note that with my Netgear 834g wireless router I have it set to b/g mode using WPA-PSK with restricted wireless MAC address and everything works perfect. My P990i is a VF.
With desktop, notebook 2 PSP's and my P990i all accessing it simultaneously with no trouble.

Does anybody know what "mRouter USB" in the "connections mgr" of my P990i? Is it costing me £££ or is it just part of wifi access? |

mRouter USB is when connected via the supplied USB lead.
For people with concerns over using GPRS instead of WiFi connection, create a WiFi Internet group with just you WiFi connection in it and ensure Web/messaging asks for which connection. Its what I do at home.
I use 4 Groups
Internet: WIFI, Contract Internet
WiFi: WiFi
Wap: Contract Wap
Email: WiFi, Contract Internet
I leave the messaging application to use Email Group everytime as no big deal if it uses GPRS/3G
I let Web app. ask me which to use. I select Wap if using VF Live! (needs Wap connection). I select Internet while out & about. I use WiFi at home to ensure the P990 doesn't use GPRS/3g.

To everyone who has got WiFi working successfully, what range do you get with a reasonable connection speed? Does it work everywhere a laptop works? |

Try clicking on all the links on the left had side. You're looking for a setting that says '802.11 mode' or something similar (my Linksys says 'Wireless network mode' under the 'basic wireless setiings')

If you've bought your wireless router within the last year or so, then its gonna be hard for you to change G to B and vice versa, normally its G because why use old technology when you have new and better technology.
But I'm reading a lot of people can alter B and G on a Netgear router so thats one thing to cling on. But as I said in my previous entry, if you have a Belkin, try and set it to 54g LRS.
-Whats LRS: http://www.belkin.com/support/faq/view.aspx?l=en&de=242 .
In the next P series, they need to get 802.11g capabilities on it. |

My router does not have settings to choose 'b', really frustrating.
Now then, can members here who have successfully got their p990i working with their routers, mention which brand and model their routers are for us unlucky ones?
Please if posssible show us a link of where to buy it from online too!
or ebay links please..
cheers
edit: this is the same as my router: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SafeCom[....]goryZ91356QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
