Hey guys, i want to buy a 2gb Mspd HS from Sony, and i tried to check the useful link that another forum memeber gave but it is not there anymore, does anyone have the new link or at least the specifications given there to know if what i'm gonna buy is a fake or not.
The seller told me that the real memory of the card was 1.89Gb and the package (in the pictures) has Japanese letters, the seller told it was made pon japan and it has the hologram.

Not sure if its already covered but have you seen the official Sony Memory Stick Data Rescue Service
http://www.sonydigital-link.c[....]nloads_ms.asp?l=en&f=MS_Rescue
It requires you to put in product information and serial number from the back of your official sony memory stick and then allows you to download the recovery tool if your card checks out. My guess is that if you can download the tool then your card is genuine. |

Hi
You have all got me very worried as I have just purchased a new 2gb msx-m2gn from Ebay.
It was £32.00 delivered, sounded too cheap to me but gave it a go any way.
With regards to the Sony recovery software, I have just started to download it.
As using this to confirm the card as genuine I can not see this will help. Sony only asked for 1. card name, 2. card serial.
What is stopping them printing a guenuine serial onto the card?
I would think one possible check could be to compare the printed serials from a supplier to see if they are identical. How many different serials can the forgers have?
Must be like fake notes all printed with identical serials. |

I fell into the same trap as some of you and snapped up a 2GB card of ebay this morning for £30
But now ive seen this ive mailed the seller with the following
Hey there,
Before i send my payment for item #7628472558 i would like you to help me garante that the product you have sold me and are selling others meets the description of the auction where it states the product is a 'Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo' and is not a counterfit/fake version.
In order to do so i request that you open the packet containing the card you have just sold me and send me the 2 codes on the back of the product. The can be found on the back of the card, the top 2 lines if looking at the card from the perspective shown in the picture below.

Once you have done this and i have checked with the online sony product registration service (which takes seconds) i will be happy to send the cheque and buy more in the future aswell as recomend you as a seller on a mobile technology website which i am a member of.
If the item is a fake then you mislead me in your auction and i am not interested in buying the product. You have breeched e-bay policy in doing this as stated here
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html
Please get back to me soon so we can discuss this further
Ed

Okay lets get one thing straight guys everybody wants cheap stuff thats why the reason, they buy online.
You get what you pay for.
If your paying something like 35 -40 quid thinking that you got yourself a good deal on the 2Gb cards then your fooling your own self.
Get more practical guys.
This is the real world.
I am saying this cause i myself sell alot of cards online.
Making it sure to people that its fake and not genuine.
I always mention COMPATIBLE FOR rather than saying its the original.
I dont wanna cheat people, just make their money worth for what they are paying.
The fake ones cost around 35 - 40 Quid and the original should besomething like 65 +.
Please dont expect to buy a Porsche at the price of a Ford.

Hi again, hope this time i get an answer. Like i said before, i want to buy a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo High Speed on the internet. I've been making a lot of questions to the seller and i've got a lot of information about the memory stick.
Real Storage Size: 1.89 Gb.
Price: U$98 dollars
Japanese Version.
The seller posted pics of the card and the package and i took the serial number and the model name from the back of the card pick .
It worked very well in the memory stick recovery data service in the first attempt, just had to fill the blanks with the model name and the serial and worked. Does it mean the card isnt a fake???
In the other pics we can see the shape of the card, it has a hologram in the back of the card (wich make me think this is a genuine card).
Here are the pics, all real pics from the actual card. PLease look at all the details and tell me if you think its a fake or a genuine card.
Thanks in advance!!!!!
If you cant see pics complete, please open them in a nwe window.
Please look very well at the pics.
And take a look to this forum, here you can find the facts to know if a mem is genuine or fake:

Hope you guys help me!!
THNKS
