not really a review, more just on going comments which anyone can add to.
I guess it makes more sense to provide a 3.5mm socket in an external cable unlike on the p series where space on the housing is at a premium

That is very good of SE to make it a 3.5mm jack, so people can use there own headphones!
One thing i did wonder, is that in the pre-release shots you see a track name and title and the progress bar in full screen (bit like an ipod) - did that make it to the final release, its something that i think the K750 should have had (even thou its not a dedicated walkman phone like the W800).
So far i've been very impressed (bar the colour scheme) with the W800!

masseur what audio software (if any) is provided with W800? I'm assuming it doesn't support atrac since SE don't mention this as a supported audio format, so guessing they don't supply the crap Sonic Stage (which as far as I understand only rips omg atrac audio files)?

I haven't loaded anything of the CD yet as I already have plenty of music myself but you can see the offerings, and indeed download and use with the K750, here on the W800i support pages
its called disc2phone

ahh! I must have missed that post! nice one! If i get the job with vodafone i'm gonna treat myself to a w800i,
I have a quick question about it mind you, does it dirty easily? as i was in the cpw yesterday and there display model was filthy on the back beside the camera, so does it attract dirt?

job with vodafone? good luck on that.
well I don't let grubby fingers near my stuff unlike demo models in cpw and so far its still sparkly new.
I suspect one of my kids will get this at the end of the week so that might be a different story!

yeah cool. Most of my music is already converted (I use aac/dbpoweramp). Still disc2phone is a free mp3 ripper for cd's nothing to sneeze at. I'll give it a lash, if it's simple to use I'll set it up for my sister to rip her cd's for her moto... |

Yeah - Its just that with Vodafone network, it seems that the GPRS bar goes away after a while like the one in the pictures, happened with the my K750i, so was just curious!
Great review btw! good job.

And speaking about the gprs bar, I see SE still haven't fixed the mask... just look at the gprs bar in masseurs pictures: No gprs and there's a white background instead of a transparent... same with K750. I don't get it why SE can't fix it. The K700 has a transparent background when dropping the gprs connection! |

The headphone are great but i'm going to be using them on my k750i and give the w800i to my other half as i think the walkman sofeware is cr*p, if u only want 2 put 1 song from one album u can but its long winded if u only have the onew track in it. Wouldn't mind if it didnt list each artist individully (inc ones that have extra artist in the track)
I like to compile my one music. On the plus side the software faults that the k750i had are not on there |

yeah disc2phone is rather clunky, just like sonic stage or openmg, but atleast it's stable. I didn't appreciate having to install dotnet though, that shit's me. So I tried it and uninstalled it. It'll still go alright for my sister though on my dad's pc at his place. (she can use my hbm30 and memory stick reader) |
