I had this problem for a while but got round it.

Anyone having this problem try this:

Install/Update to the latest Flash Player 8 (link a couple of pages back)

Install/Update to the latest Java Version (Not sure if its essential to SEUS 2 but just update for good measure)

Uninstall SEUS 2 and reinstall.

After doing that I was able to update.

Will

well about the hissing while in walkman mode, I have mailed SE asking about it and this is their reply.

Dear J,

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Call Center.

We are aware of units that have a hissing noise when entering the Walkman player. This has been escalated to the next level and we are awaiting an answer of the cause or a fix for the problem.

We will notify you with the answer as soon as we hear anything.

Best regards,
/Pontus

So lets hope they fix the hissing in the new firmware, and other bugs introduced in the new f/w also.

SE really sucks at doing PC-software! 120MB for Software Update Service 2 and uses 40MB of memory while running. That's more than Windows 98!

I will just go by my reseller tomorrow and make the upgrade there.

I do not have a hacked F/W. My W800 is nearly a month old and I have only used SEUS to update. So I wont "live with it". Personally I have not noticed any earpiece noises that would be unusual to a mobile phone. But I do get the annoying background noise (is that a better discription than hissing?) when playing MP's. Most importantly I do get the parrameter incorrect bug - it is real!! I think this is the worst problem of all. I have reported this to SE and they responded with load of rubbish about unistalling all SE S/W, cleaning my Registry, and reinstalling drivers and making sure Windows is fully patched. I did everything they asked and I still get the problem. I can duplicate the problem on 3 totally different P.C.'s. I did not have these problems with the original R1L002 F/W that came with the phone. i think that most people probably have this bug but have not used or tested enough for it to show up. Look how long it took for the original MS DUO bug to be fully reported. Some might think that all they need do is copy 1 or 2 files and they are satisfied that there is no bug - wrong.

I would like everyone to try the following steps and report your results:

1) Connect USB cable and use SE Filemanager to copy as many files from the phone memory to your P.C. as you can. If you don't have a large amount of files copy some MP3's and MID's to your phone memory. Watch your screen while the copy is in progress.

2) Leave the cable connected and copy the entire contents of your memory stick to your P.C.

3) If you did not get an error repeat the processes above several times to test properly as I have found that sometimes you will get no errors.

I've created a seperate post to address testing of the parameter incorrect bug as it is too easy for it to get lost in this post. Please go here: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=111693

Hi dr.bodylove and GoodW1ll,

Thanks for the comments, I might give it a go.
whats with the hissing problem - is it that bad?

Cheers,

If your main purpose is talking on the phone, don't update - the hissing sound is terrible!

IMO, if your main purpose is talking on the phone (that's the basic of all mobile phone ), you should upgrade to R1AA088, unless you do not encounter crash/reboot problem in your current firmware.

For me, the hissing problem is not really bad.
Must admit, though, quite annoying the first time i noticed it, but i can get through with it as time goes by ).
I would trade it for the sake of stability, multi-character search in contact, faster viewing pictures, etc.

For me, R1A044 is one of the k750i's best firmware IF, again, IF it supported multi-character search in contact and didn't crash/reboot.
I would keep it if it solved above issues.

But I couldn't stand the crash/reboot problem and searching contact's name was quite annoying as only support 1 character search.
That's why i upgraded my f/w.

Again, just an opinion.

Last night I tried transferring a 23MB wmv video from my memory stick with the phone connected to the PC thru USB.

Thrice I tried moving it first using Windows Explorer, and in all three tries, the transfer failed (Parameter is incorrect error). Finally, I just copied it. Not sure, but the Move command might trigger the bug more often than just Copy.

Just what is this "Multi Character Search"? i upgraded from R1Loo2 to R1AA008 and dint find any changes...
How does one use a multi character search and why is everybody talking about it as if its the next best thing after sliced bread?

Searching contact name by pressing more than 1 character.
e.g. when you try to find a name "Ken" in contacts, you press "k" and "e" and "n". while you are pressing those keys, you can see the contact's name list is changing based on the character you type.
Main advantage is it's faster to search people's name starting with the same 1st or 2nd or 3rd (etc.) character.

I had the exact same proble. I just formatted the MS and now it seems to work fine...Also it's been written that trying a different USB port might help!

P.S. Why did you carry a wmv video in your phone? I thought that this format isn't compatible with W800i. Isn't it?

If i am not wrong, some people in this thread ever mentioned about the availability of multi-character search in K750's old f/w for specific regions.
