Does anyone else have the problem with speed dials?
I press 1 on the phone and dial and it asks me do I want to create a speed dial for this number, I say yes and it says "No info available"!
Same thing happens if I go into the speed dial settings and try to add one from there! |

Hey Lee,
Check you havent changed the message options to Circuit Switched nstead of packet switched. I had a customer on a W910 with same problem.
 Hope thats all it is!
Hi JiSm,
Yes, mine was on circuit switched and not packet switched but this is definately something I haven't changed, it would have come like this as default from Orange. I've changed it back again now so hopefully that will cure this particular problem, thanks!
With regards to the photo/flash issue, I might ring Orange and get it changed (insurance!) and see what a new one arrives with. My current one is Week 40 so with any luck, the new one will have Firmware 037 on it too. Does anybody else know what Orange is currently issuing? I'll let you all know otherwise, hopefully tomorrow!

Can somebody please add the "OPERATION FAILED" bug to the buglist?
Loosing all your SMS, and doing a HARD REBOOT as the only solution to this this problem (with the result of loosing all the data on the phone) is a serious bug if you ask me!
I have got this bug twice the last month. And thats two times more than it should. And I see that a lot of other ppl in this thread also have experienced this bug..
Besides this bug, I love the phone!

I'm getting the "Operation Failed" message now when I try to go to Applications or Games and a master reset (all) didn't fix it either. I would like to upgrade to R1CA037 in the hopes that will fix things (along with the flash sync problem). I notice that DaVinciTeam.com has a bunch of versions of R1CA037 firmwares but all tied to a particular provider. I have a generic firmware (prg12004404_CHINA_SO R1CA029) but don't see it on DaVinciTeam's list. Can I upgrade or not? And which one do I upgrade to? Any help is appreciated because I desperately need my Google Maps back. |

None of the flashing tools (davinci, wotan and other) could flash DB3150 platform, so far. |

My screen is now loose at the top right hand side (looks like it needs to be glued back in). Not too bad (yet), but it does creak a bit when I'm on a call.
Also, there's now some light poking through the C key (bottom left) so I can see that we'll all have completely blank (and well lit) keys in the next 6-9 months.
Build quality is definitely going to affect SE if they're not careful. Mind you, the service centres that get paid to do repairs will be excited!
anybody taken their keppad out and realigned the LEDs yet? |

No, but I'd like to (although I'm getting another phone later today, which'll hopefully be okay). I'm not keen on taking the phone apart whilst it's under warranty, and also I don't want to make it creaky (if that's a word!).

Hey JiSm,
Just to let you know, this didn't solve the sms problem. I'll be contacting Orange and getting a new one this weekend and let you all know the F/W version and if it solves this problem.

I'm still waiting for Orange to say whether my reboots and operation failed

Well I don't believe it. I phone Orange and tell them 'my flash doesn't work', I wasn't going to tell them the flash is out of sync with the shutter because this option definately wouldn't be on the YES/NO replacement options! So, the guy starts the 'disgnostics' and the system tells him that a camera fault is not applicable to this phone!
So now I have to wait for the technical dept. to update their systems to have camera faults as an option for diagnostics before it will allow them to replace it.
This better be sorted out tomorrow otherwise the phone may develop a new fault...!
**UPDATE** I wasn't happy with that, so another call and hey presto - new phone arriving on Sunday

I can't believe 037 hasn't been made available via SEUS yet. What is SE playing at??
I was at a birthday party on Thursday night, and the waitress saw my K850i and actually stopped to ask me if I had problems with the flash. I guess she wasn't expecting to be speaking to someone who had such a good answer! I told her the problem, and said it would be fixed in due course (then suggested she went to her retailer to repeat what I'd said).
Realistically, I'm not sure she fully understood what I was saying or would remember it (or perhaps that's being rather judgmental), but why SHOULD an ordinary consumer need to know or understand such things? They buy a phone, and expect it to work from day one!!
Why is SE putting 037 on handsets going out the factory, yet happily allowing for hundreds of people to return their handset to swap it for a new one? I heard Carphone Warehouse is getting 1 in 5 K850s returned. Give these people the update for God's sake!!

You're absolutely right. This should be on the SEUS, but if it's seen as a temporary fix by SE until the big update is released, then I can understand (though what harm making it available would do I don't know!).
I don't think it's much different with most manufacturers. The "ordinary consumer" (i.e. someone who does not know - be it because they're not interested, or they just because they've never been educated on the subject - about software updates and the like) just think phones with issues are "rubbish". I reckon the camera problems would put many ordinary consumers off of buying another SE. Little do they know a software update is all that's needed. Now, SE shouldn't have released the phone in this mess. Quite how the flash issue was not discovered prior to general release is beyond me, but that's another argument.
Whilst SE should have it on the SEUS, the every day phone user isn't going to benefit anyway, because they don't know about it. The people that will benefit are us. Say the software had been released on the SEUS, and someone called the Carphone Warehouse, for example, or even SE themselves for that matter, do you think they'd be told about the SEUS? I doubt it. They'd be told to take the handset back or send it for repair.
It's just the way it is...

Very good points and the only thing that i can think of is again Sony's influence on Ericsson so now they are trying very hard to commit Hari kari as that may speed things up a bit.
@all
So sad for what was once such great company with such a fine heritage and history, it really upsets me that this is what Ericsson has become it's just not right. After over 20 years of using Ericsson and SE devices there is not one device i wish to own not even the still to launch W960 and that really deserved to have a much better spec than it does to at least give it a chance in the market place.

The thing is, they're still a great company. It's still a great phone. Initially there are build and software issues, but these will be ironed out.
Like I've said, this 100% should not be the case. The fact of the matter is, I love the phone, I love the company, and despite the problems I've personally had, it won't put me off buying another one.
