What network SE uses for Japanese phones? I think it's CDMA EVDO-1X, right? Wonder if somebody out there can unlock au KDDI or DoCoMo's network to be used outside Japan...

SE makes phones for both AU KDDI (CDMA 2000 1x as well as CDMA EVDO) and NTT DoCoMo (WCDMA)
none of their phones could be unlocked, they've been trying for over 5 years and given up.
even when you can unlock them, you can only use 20-30% of the phone's potential: the digital TV, digital radio, electronic money, support for 5MB+ java games, AGPS with shops/restaurant/live traffic info, earthquate warnings, news headlines streaming at standby screen, call-ID plus call-intention (chaku-moji- incoming call attachment of flash message explaining why ur calling not just who u are), html mail, dual number (2in1) one USIM service will all mean nothing once you leave the country. |

It's gonna disappoint a lot of you, but apparently SE will not launch any more smart phones this year... Will confirm it on monday...
