In the U.S. there is an online store that has the X1 set for release on Oct. 23, 2008 for an unbranded/unlocked version of the phone.
They have been reliable for their release dates on their phones so I'm pretty confident they will get the phone on the date showing. |

Could you tell me the site? If it's out in october, I wouldn't mind waiting for it but january? that's a bit too long. |

Well mclaren, i dont know what to consider, The se site, which has preponed its date from january to october, or to consider your friend who says its delayed to year end. Btw, year end also comes in 2nd half, so in no way you can say that's a delay.
Anyways, e90's a nice phone as well. Buy what you like. |

@all SE fanboys,
I suggest you guys to wait until phone is matured - probably after at least two firmware upgrades.
I was also considering this phone but as it is SE phone only beacuse it will have SE logo I am not interested any more, main reason - accessoreis are not compatible with my current SE phones.

According to swedish magazine M3 Digital World the X1 will be released Dec 2008/Jan 2009 when they spoke to SE people at the IFA 2008 exhibition. Link to M3 video (unfortunately in swedish):

Apparently the phone is still somewhat buggy, as seen in the video...
All the best, JS...

That is pretty much what my contact at Ericsson told me as well! (My post below) the word is the SW engineers could not get it right this phone was apparently supposed to be ready to go in July!!!!!!!
Senior people in the industry know that is having problems converting the X1 to make it work the way! (God Help us as customers is all I can say!!)
I cannot give names as liable laws in the UK are pretty horrible, but please don't flame me I assure you that is a fact"

all that says is
"give the first live, in-depth, demonstration of the Xperia™ X1 prior to its global launch"
well, given the fact the device was supposed to be delivered in July that will not be too hard to do will it
I think we shall be waiting a bit longer for this device, no matter what the marketing dept say (and we all know how reliable they are!)
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

I dunno, I just get the feeling that they're doing the webcast because it is very close to launch, and that statement just adds to that suggestion. Of course you may be right, but I hope I am!

Hi Muhammad,
I have to say I hope you are right as well! I think this could be a good step for SE at the moment I am looking at WM6 to see if it will be better for my users

X1 to see a pre-christmas launch as planned
Sony Ericsson has denied reports made by Swedish newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, that the Xperia X1 would not make a pre-Christmas appearance.
The Swedish paper cited problems with the Windows 6.1 operating system, which the phone uses, as causing a delay. However, a Sony Ericsson spokesman denied that there were any problems with the software and said that the phone would be launched in Q4 as planned.
