Whoops, sorry about that. Don't know why I wrote that :-s
Anyhow, Z750 doesn't feature a GPS. Erm... and the way you put it, sounded like that was "it".
I thought it did. Z750a was to have a vga camera for video calling, and some z750i was to have GPS? I only read this on another forum and someone had links to Gmaps and a lot of other java apps like GPS circular positioning.
Here is what I'm refereing to on the Z750a

Here is that GPS Circular positioning app I was refereing to.

^ Now this was on youtube long before the GMaps assisted news regarding cell-towers for tri-angulation.
Now I was HOPING the z750i had GPS, but reality is setting in and maybe only the A200 platform allowed the W760i has the GPS.
Mizzle; will the K850i be able to use Gmaps for Geotagging of photos uploaded to the web?
Thanks for the clarifications, you've lifted this thread from shear insanity; mine included.
PS: To Mizzle only (no reply requested nor needed. This is posted in the open as I posted doubt in the open; I feel its only fair for a retraction in public) I hope you understood why a lot of us were doubters; posts at least in this thread alone seemed so cryptic it seemed as if you were playing odds on guesses where at least one of them would be right. GLad that was NOT the case.

On top of this the most dissapointing thing is the Camera, i forever get overexposed pics when using the camera auto settings. Its nothing to do with me having fingers over the light sensor or holding it the wrong way it seems to overexpose pics all the time. If i take pics without flash its ok if i take with flash on a night or dim room the persons face is bright white and looks awful yet pics during the day in good lighting conditions seem fine. Also there seems to be dust getting under the lens cover no great prob now but not as though can easily access it to clean.
Cleaning the light sensor with a toothpick fixed the over-exposure problem for me. It's amazingly easy to get it dirty... not sure why it is not covered like everything else? |

I was just wondering if anybody else is having problems with their keypad lights.
90% of the times they are fine, but sometimes the bottome row of my keypads stay on when they are suppose to be off... its weird.
while doing the Service Test on the LED lights of the phone, the keypad lights start animating like they are suppose to (lighting up from top to bottom), but once the buttom rows light up, they dont turn off ( keys 8,9,#,0,*) like the rest do.
anyways just wanted to know if anybody else has this problem. I already contacted SE and they asked me to send it in.
I had firmware 037 on my phone and yes ive tried hard/soft reset and w/e you can think of.
Do you think SE will just replace the phone or try and open it and fix it?? i rather they send me a new one with the NEW firmware :D |

Will try the tooth pick thing is the light sensor next to the led module?
I thought it was a small grub screw at first!
What is the new firmware going to be like is it going to be a complete make over of the software?
I just want to resolve the camera quality as it has potential to be the best! But these poor pictures have been this poor from the beginning.
Where do i stand with fine dust getting under the lens cover?

I had problems with my lights when i got my first k850. Some of the led bulbs were very dim and a different hue to the rest of them so i sent it back under 7day return and a new one was sent.
THis one had the same problem so sent it off again and then 3rd time lucky keypad lights are ok now. |

I know its so annoying, where is this firmware.
What number do you all ring to speak to sony ericson technical support in the uk.
I rang the support number on the website every time i get thru to them they deny all knowledge of problems and tell me to send the phone to them for repair and say it is hardware faults. |

Regarding the K850 firmware, I do believe that many more features from other A200 phones are in the package. I remember downloading that test firmware (R3) some weeks ago, and it was about 10 MB larger than the current firmware. So something has definitely happened.
@Prom1
Z750 has the maps applications built-in, not a GPS It can locate your position using cellular networks with Google Maps (no news there) - this is the method used in Assisted GPS's, only that this one doesn't include the GPS part.

@Mizzle...
Thanks for your inside information on the K850i firmware.
I have a few questions though:
- Are there legal implications if you disclose accurate information on the upcoming firmware?
- Did you test the R3 firmware that you downloaded some weeks ago?
- Is the firmware actually better than the current firmware out there? Or are we getting our hopes up?
- What firmware are you running on your K850i currently?
Thanks! |

@mizzle
If you tried the test firmware, did you feel there where any genuine improvements ? particularly for the camera's performance ?
My main issue with the phone is the camera and poor quality pics it currently produces and the shorter battery life.
I dont expect SE to give me new features, just good performance in the ones I have, am I likely to be disappointed, mmmmm we can only wait (and wait) and see. It's making me slightly cross that they are rolling out all these new phones without fixing there flagship model, makes me as a k850i owner feel we have been forgotten. |

Care to hint on the new features?
EDIT: Do you think SatNav will come out on the K850? like the N95?

I don't know for sure about the features, but I'd expect the Location stuff to be included (like on W760, W890, Z750). Furthermore, the new menu icons should come in this version as the default ones - don't expect further Flash based menu styles. There are some cool animations in new phones like W760 - i.e. when entering Media, it enlarges and gradually fades out the Media menu icon. All eye candy.
