he is referring to the new menu icons..... if you look at the w760i, they now have 'reflections'........ hard to explain, but you can see it your self!

Well i checked the SE web site and didn't see any examples of menu, also checked the W760 thread here but i only saw one shot of the menues and that didn't look like it differs much from K850 menu.
Another thing: It would be really nice if SE could throw in a least 3 new flash themes togheter with the new firmware! |

Something like this, and generally with more effects.

You're talking nonsense. Also, W910 has 3G (and HSDPA).

Like the ever famous K700 -> K500 menu icon swaps

Nothing anywhere near as good that I have yet found. Generally the forums on Nokia's site are ok and there's everythingn82, but this is in it's very early stages.
> Edit: Edit: Do you think it is wise to trade-in the k850 for a N82?
Well, it's a much more capable phone as I am sure you are all aware. The keyboard is not as good as something more conventional like the K800, but better than the K850. The battery life is actually very good too - which suprised me little. The only real disadvantage is price, the differences in UI that you need to get used to and the firmware issue that leads to the media player's playlist getting shafted.

Hey no insults needed. I'm in the USA not Europe so I made a mistake on the W910. SE is always forgetting about us in the product range. I'm not just talking about 1 phone out of 4 segments either; or every 4 that is a new product release (not an announcement).
How was everything I stated nonsense.
W910 & K850i have or had the same icon menu layout, no?
W760i features teh new icon layout as you photo'd above.
I was just stating a hunch that the delays you were refering to were based on teh different models in the A200 range as you yourself stated 3 pages ago.
Is there a specific reason (or re-occuring issue) of the less than normal firmware releases (2mth pattern) that the K850i was subject too?

Whoops, sorry about that. Don't know why I wrote that :-s
Anyhow, Z750 doesn't feature a GPS. Erm... and the way you put it, sounded like that was "it".

Hey you lot!
Not been on here a while forgot my password etc, but have been following this topic for a while now
Im truly dissapointed with the k850. I am in the Uk and bought the phone on contract from t-mobile uk. it came with the usual branding, t zones and things such as when writing an sms that ran over into more than 2 messages it would convert it to mms or if i added smileys it would convert to mms straight away!
On top of this the most dissapointing thing is the Camera, i forever get overexposed pics when using the camera auto settings. Its nothing to do with me having fingers over the light sensor or holding it the wrong way it seems to overexpose pics all the time. If i take pics without flash its ok if i take with flash on a night or dim room the persons face is bright white and looks awful yet pics during the day in good lighting conditions seem fine. Also there seems to be dust getting under the lens cover no great prob now but not as though can easily access it to clean.
So i used davinci or whatever its called to debrand the phone, it now has the software version 1200-4400 R1CA037 071012. I got this from the Update Service menu within the phone.
Now as far as im aware i put the firmware on via DaVinci that was something like UK GENERIC that many people on here recommended, after doing this i then had a Update service option come up in the settings menu of the phone, i decided to try update it for further updates and there was a new update and the phone updated itself via SEUS over the airwaves rather than via a pc.
Now whenever i use the update service either on the pc or phone it always says im updated with current software already.
Im confused as to why there is a R1DA038 version out and even a R1DA039 yet i cant put this on my phone, i know the networks have to authorise it first before allowing consumers to download it but i thought the whole point of debranding it was so you can get direct updates from SE without having to wait for the networks.
I paid to debrand my phone with Generic firmware yet im worried when SE release the new much firmware im not going to be able to get it via SEUS because T-mobile will be taking their time to release the firmware.
Can someone explain how this works, ive read most posts on here yet cant seem to find the answer anywhere.
What is the diff in the letters either CA & DA as looking at the very first post on the topic it says there is a version 38.
Is the new firmware going to correct my camera problems and the phone will be as it was advertised or is this going to be another pointless update that i perhaps cannot even get on my phone without having to pay to put on via Davinci or something.
Look fwd to your answers on this one, i am quite technically minded used to work for O2 Uk in networks so dont worry about blagging me with Jargon i should be able to follow.
Many thanks

The 38 and 39 firmwares are for branded handsets,
38 was released for generic but pulled because of too many bugs/problems.
38 is available for vodafone, o2, orange, tmobile.
whereas 39 is the network '3' specific release as they use more branding
EDIT: FOTA and SEUS will update your phone when there is a newer Unbranded/Generic firmware available, but there isn't atm
Hope this helps, im sure someone else from this thread can put it better, but that is, as i understand it, the basics

Rich, Try cleaning out the light sensor with a tooth pick or a soft bristled brush. It helped with the over exposure problem for myself and others. I assume it's gunk from handling the phone that gets in there and blocks the light getting in, forcing the camera to over-compensate with the flash. |

Not sure you have really Read this thread since you're asking Why can you not get the 038 firmware. It has been repeatedly pointed out that 038 was Only made available to Branded phones. So going generic automatically meant you won't be getting it.
As for whether the next update will be available to all or only branded - my guess is that it'll be available to all since it is supposed to be a Major upgrade (from R1A to R3A) vs the minor 037 to 038/039. Again - just a guess
