was a time i'd look at the p990 as an object of excitement, something cool to have in your pocket, a gadget i'd really enjoy taking out and using in all its many facets.
no more, my friends.
its officially become a piece of sh!t for me. |

On every FW so far I have lost the lower arrow in the scroll list in favorites when using the web browser after a while in full window view. Sometimes the small menu icon in the upper right corner disappears too in full view mode. I have both tried to reinstalled a backup after FW upgrade and not to reinstall, but same problem every time. This makes that I canīt see the last 2-3 bookmarks in the list. Scrolling with the thumbwheel doesnīt help.
Anyone else noticed this bug?

Maybe SE have hindered the P990i on purpose thinking we will all run out and buy a P1 rather than a Nokia.
Glad I've not updated!

yep the same with me.
Tips:
1. View bookmarks before full screen mode, the bug is gone
2. Top menu dissapeares when i visit huge, complex pages (actually i had problem with one). It's about complexity, since i had no problem with mobile-review reviews, which are even bigger. So the simple solution - finish loading these pages before the end, the problem is gone.

P990, W950 and M600: no further firmware updates....
Sony Ericsson officially informed that firmware for P990, M600 and W950 phones will not be further developed and there will be no new firmware releases via the Sony Ericsson Update Service.
Niklas Sivander who is the Head of Product Management said: "These firmware releases meet the requirements of bug fixes prioritized by our operator customers and the Customer Services organization within different markets. The decision to freeze the P990, W950 and M600 firmware versions at this point has been made based on meeting these requirements. As with any phone project, no product is ever completely flawless. Any remaining issues are of course unfortunate, but we feel that with the level of quality on the latest P990 firmware we now have a good, solid product". Read more @ Sony Ericsson Developer World.

Any of you guys experience dropped calls with R6 (perhaps after experiencing them with R5)? |

So to sum things up, they have released firmware that is less functional than before, making the phone as crap as it has ever been then simply pulled support for it.
I'm never ever buying a SE product ever again and I hope you all feel the same way. |

I have the lastest firmware installed and it is a step backwards. How on earth can a company like SE deliver a step down.
It has more bugs in it than before. SOme things are better but there are now a number of v anyoying bugs.
The phone display after a call remains on as if in a call.
The bookmarks are no longer sorted they way they were for web use. Why can't I have somehting simple like a home page.
I am glad there are other alternatives about to appear. I would be very relucant to buy another SE. I bought the first P800 which was another SE beta release aimed at trialing the market place. Fisher Price would have been proud. The P990 is a real disaster. |

yes!!! I did it...downgraded from R6 to R5...good thing i have a spare credit from kulankendi...it was risky at first since if i mess things up, i need to buy another credit & it takes forever to get the credit i know...it was my last lucky credit...change it to PHilippines trade generic & when i booted up, it says i have R6 so i updated at SEUS (just once) and after the update, now i have R5...
i know i'm going to miss few features of R6 (clear pic thumbnails & few little things only) but it's important for me to have that email bug removed...hopefully if they will continue releasing updates then i will update my fone again after all the reviews...hehehe...good luck to us |

Strange, my R6 seems to be getting better with time, I used the phone for a bout 5 days having around 11.7mb RAM left (SMP L3), then I accidentally restarted my phone and got 17.1mb at startup. With normal useage, I had 14.1mb (SMP L2) after 1.5 days which I never got before. Dunno how some could only get 14.9mb at startup and go as low as 5mb on the 2nd day. I have to say on mine, it is rock solid so far in terms of stability-but I'm afraid I can't say the same bug-wise
