unless it was to replace the M600 with 700 being higher than 600!
Leaving room for an all singing all dancing P990 replacement
IMO!

But the numbering would also mean that it's worse than the P900 and P800..... while the P700i will have everything the P990i has, in a smaller form factor and with a 3MP camera.
I was hoping Peter would have an answer for that and was not really directing this at you (you've done enough with the fantastic rendering), but if you know the answer that is cool too. I just wonder why they chose the name they did. The P900 and P800 are no longer being produced so there is no point comparing a new phone with them. But if they were concerned with that, which they don't seem to be, they could have called it the P950. The P-series has been marked by increases in numbering denoting newer and more advanced phones. Why break with that scheme now? Unless they are discontinuing the P990 and making this the flagship-still why not call it the P1000 unless there is a better phone on the way. I don't think they will name another phone the P800 or P900, so it would seem they are painting themselves into somewhat of a corner. Unless they just don't care about names anymore.

It is the M600 that is being replaced not the P990 so the numbering makes perfect sense they have just slim lined the symbian phone's into the "P" series!
IMO

Does that mean they are killing the M-series. If not why call the successor a "P"? I find it almost as strange that they would abandon an entire series after just one phone. This just gets more interesting as we go along.

As far as I can remember SE never released a phone on a saturday before and if they do they should have summoned to a pressconference by now, wouldn't they?
I'd be glad if someone proved me wrong though.

@PK
FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY!!!
The M series is not in the same category as P.
From what I can remember M stands for Messaging - primarily a email/ sms/mms/push email device.
