Never buy first batch of ANY SE phone! |

Since the introduction of SEUS I don't really mind buying the first batch since I can update it later on. As with PC mainboards it takes about 6 months before they get a proper bios / firmware.
This may be wrong in some ways to sell finished hardware with unfinished software but hey, we created the need to have the latest phone first. I'm really impressed with what SE did to the K700 during the year I had it. I had one from one of the absolute first shipments in sweden and with each new firmware bugs were sorted out and new features were added. When buying my new K750 a few weeks ago I had that in mind and I know that any bugs I encounter or features most of us (realisticly) want will be adressed in future firmware updates.
Those of you who want a phone that is reliable and with no faults what so ever, buy an old one. Preferably from the last batch.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO LEARN?
Every SE phone (phones above) I have owned have had problems/bugs in the first phones from the factory. I was nearly the first to buy all of the phones above and I had trouble with every single one of them. The pain, the anguish, the horror........ok back to something serious here.
I wan to buy the K750, but I'm not going to because I have learned. Give it 2-3 months all almost 80-90% of the bugs will have dissapeared like magic...
SO WHY ARE WE STILL BYING THE FIRST PHONES TIME AND TIME AGAIN....yes I know we love them, but isn't it time SE got their finger out of their a-hole and not send out phones they know don't work?

I honestly think youre talking complete rubbish.
a lot of my phones have been first batch...
T68
T610
P900
they were all first week of release.
Yes there are some problems with the first release but to say NO DONT BUY PHONES IN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS IS RIDICULOUS
get your head checked.

About the price, it's been a month since I've purchased my K750i at less than 330 EUR, and the price has not dropped yet, so why should I have waited? I don't think it will drop under 300 EUR before a few months!

The T39 is NOT a SE-phone, and i don't think R520 is either.
The increased complexity in modern technologi makes it IMPOSSIBLE to make a bug-free high-tech device. Of course there are always product QA tests but you cannot test every aspect of a product. Software developers know this - Thats why BETA-versions exist. Real life testing always shows different bugs than you could possible discover by QA.
Thats why SE has introduced Software Update Service and actually made it quite simply and usefull with the K750 (if you can read and FOLLOW a simple set of instructions ).
But SE isn't the only one with this problem. Nokia, Samsung, Siemens, Motorala keep making new versions of their firmware. It's not because they are bored but because something needs to be fixed
But AFAIK only SE and Siemens gives the customers the option to update their firmware by themselves and thereby savings us the trouble of going trough a repair service.
BTW your OS on your computer has been beta-tested. Still theres updates, fixes, servicepacks constantly been realesed and it will continue untill the products life cyclus is at an end. Its the way of advanced electronics and software in the 21st century....

Buying the first batch is not a problem unless you do not have access to SEUS, or a service center. This is the problem with all manufacturers. Cars are not perfect, just look at the 1 million car recall by GM, so considering all that you have to do is connect your phone to a Sync Station and download the upgrade this is not a major problem.
As always to not buy one is completely your prerogative.

It's true that this statement applies to pretty much all tech products. But whether one get the latest or wait, for me, depends on a few other factors eg. Need for reliability, Available time to tinker, Special features required, Compatibility with other products etc. For a phone where 24/7 reliability counts as #1, I would wait. Further I absolutely needs it to work with my other Bluetooth products and be able to sync properly with my Mac. I guess those very latest screens and the extra MPs doesn't excit me as much as my need for reliability in a phone. As for a computer OS, well, that's another set of priorities. We are all different.

Have you looked over in the Mac threads about getting the k750i to sync with Mac's. This is an Apple problem. Not SE. Apple upgrades it's phones databases every so often, so this is not a problem that can be blamed on SE. There are work arounds and fixes that work most of the time. Second, the k750i is new, new, new and was not part of the Tiger release, so you have to contact Apple about this.

Haha, i used to be upset that I couldnt afford all the new SE phones and people like masseur and scotsboyuk go out and buy them all, but now I feel happy cos i'm the one with the last laugh, i always get the bug free phones cos i have to wait longer until i can get them

i would agree with you if firmware upgrades were non-existant, but buying a phone first batch with a certain firmware, then upgrading it to the newest, it's the same thing as buying a new phone with the newest firmware... |

well iv cancelled and returned my k750, i agree with waiting for a month or 2, till all bugs are sorted, unless the samsung d600 when it is released tempts me to buy that phone instead, i'l see what happens |

Well haven't you read that theres a firmware update ready that solves all the "freezing" problems? The few bugs that are left are hardly anything that would keep you from buying the phone. And with the new update service its easy to get fixes for your phone.
Did you also wait to buy Windows XP untill Service Pak 2 was released? |

I like stability. Let others find the bugs, let the company fix them, then i'll think about buying their product. |

Must be pretty empty in your apartment. Oppps. Can have that. Maybe you live outside, but then you would have to wait for God to provide an update to His creations. World 2.0.

i agree with Nucleus, stability is important, its a hassle getting your phone changed so many times, i mean within a week, i got 4 replacement k750's. Then i just decided to give up and cancel the whole contract. |
