@ Jay Samford

SE still haven't fixed it, but I have emailed them a couple of times since, and they say they are working on the problem, and will email me when they know more. I may email them again to chase it up!

I don't doubt that they will fix it, but it's taking a long time. At least they are aware that the update service will not work with R2C.

Just had this reply from SE after weeks of waiting:

Quote:
With regards to your enquiry, unfortunately, after extensive investigation it has proved impossible for remote support to determine the cause of this problem. To resolve the problem please take your handset to an approved Sony Ericsson service location for the software upgrade.

Pathetic.

lol, looks like its a trip to CPW. Doesnt supprise me about SE though, same ole' same ole.

Just out of intrest, dont know if you've used CPW before but does their method of updating require a master reset or anything similar that would result in me losing pictures, videos, contacts etc etc?

Previously, I've never used CPW to update the firmware. I've used my nearest service centre. Although this was for a T610, the phone was not wiped, but I'd advise backing up just in case.

I updated my K700i today. It is Orange branded and worked without a problem. My new firmware is R2AE033! I used to have R2C001, so this is proof that it can be updated, i'm using Windows 2000 with SP4.
