Just to let every one know the great news.

I went on the internet today and was able to update My Orange Branded K700i with out any problems using SE Update service.

I have been trying to update every day for the past few weeks and to my supprise when it said it was downloading today i was in shock.

Any way my original firmware was R2AC, my new firmware is R2AE033 and yes the Firmware for the camera is even 3.10

Nothing was lost on the phone, nothing was changed and yes the orange shortcuts are still on the main screen before any one asks.

I can comfirm that the phone has all the features of the Generic R2AE033 K700i phones with the phone book working correctly, menus alot faster, You can now play m4a and the delay in answering or dialing calls has gone.

Little confusion tho, My phone wasnt fully charged and the battery indicator was in the Orange. However now with the new software the battery indicator is 3/4 full and back in the green. So i dont know if it does improve battery life or not.

I have also checked the fault log and nothing was reported. So that great news for me and hopefuly for SE.

Any questions just ask, I will try and help the best i can.

currently not able to test, but i will try a get some of my friends who are on the other networks to try and update theres and will post the result on here when i know.

But its great news for Orange Customers, so SE must have fixed something,

I do have some news over 02 and the K700i. If any of you read this thread and receiving problems with your text, there may be a soloution for you.

While your phone is switched on, remove the battery and take both the battery and sim card out for 10 seconds or more, replace both of them and switch the phone back on. The phone will take longer to restart as the software resets it self (No data is lost) however on the 02 phones (Generic and no Generic) i have done this on, the sms work after and still no probs after a week. not surw why but you could give it a try.

I updated my Orange K700 with the latest firmware (listed above) and although the phone operates normally, when I use my PDA (T3) and GPRS to access my emails the Disconnect function causes the K700 to lock-up...requiring battery removal. I've tried Versamail and Agendus Mail with manual and auto disconnects but they all cause the same freeze. Beware...

Email retrieval directly from the phone is okay.

Well I have updated 2 more of the Orange k700i Uk phones and didnt have one problem at all. EU3 is the version of the Laguage and French is in there too.

Well good luck everyone else, I hope that the update service is now fixed and a big horray to Oraange for allowing us to update again.

How could I be sure to update my phone with a firmware that allows to select french as a language???
Perhaps I should try through the UK website to get the right language pack... ???

Help still needed

My unbranded phone on O2 UK is updating now! It was not previously allowed to.

Will post more details when it's finished.

Done now. Can confirm it is R2AE033, with camera driver 3.10. Menus are quicker and phonebook search function is present without the bug whereby you could accidentally delete contacts. Camera shutter sound can be disabled by sticking the phone into silent mode. Camera is definitely less noisy in low light conditions - quite impressed, actually.

Well. Just updated mine.

Seems to be working fine....The Auto phone lock thing has been fixed, menus are faster, and have th cool little phone book search too.

Haven't noticed much else yet.
