Nah. A color screen is not just a small change from the phone architecture standpoint... E.g. try to put a color screen to a videopac, it's not quite straightforward to get the whole thing work without significant hardware change to the videopac itself.
And I guess 8210 and 8310 are completely different, apart from their outlook. At least I really don't think only small changes are needed to get GPRS for instance It's a completely different thing than GSM which most likely requires new hardware...
T39 and T28 that are very similar as well from outside, are certainly completely different inside too |

And are you talking about 256 color??
That's the past.
Now, 4096 color phones are here. And even 65k color screens. And even further in the Land of the Rising Sun. The more colors, the more better the pictures look. Good for MMS pictures! At least these pics look very nice on 7650, not quite on T68. I remember using an old PC, IBM PS1 if I recall right, with 256 colors. That was a huge improvement vs 16 or 32 colors. The same happens with comparing 4096 (or beyond) to 256. But I'm not saying 256 color screen is bad, noooo it's very good but old tech by now. Even 4096 is kinda old tech vs what they have in Japan, Korea... |

you´re talking about how SE is bad, but just remember nokia´s 7710, 6210, even 6310 - all of them are not OK until now, couple months after introduction!!!
the software has such a lot of bugs, that using those phones is not a pleasure as it should be, but a disaster..
I was big nokia fan - my last five phones were 7110, 6210, 8310, 6310, 6310i.. I spent HOURS AND HOURS around services!!!!
so, finally I decided to change the "kind" of phone - now I have T68i and I am satisfied enough. I don´t mind, that is a bit slow, but what is important for me - it works.. fast data, big contactlist, bluetooth, tri-band..
and I can bet with you guys, that there will be such a many problems with the new models from nokia, that u will have to wait for couple months again to get the FW without bugs.
and in that time, SE will come with something new as well |

I just can't wait to hear all the whining about how bug infested the new Nokia phones will be!
Then you'll be running back to Esato saying how crappy those phones are
Please, show me a good working Nokia phone that doesn't have worst problems than the T68i (Including structural, lol).

I agree that the 6610 looks slick (a bit of a T68 look-alike ) and has quite a few features, but it also lacks much that the T68 has...
Missing from 6610:
E-Mail client
Voice dialing and voice notes
Bluetooth
Joystick!
I still can't see it as superior to my T68 despite Java, better display and radio...

I really don't think I'm gonna swap my T68i with that Nokia 6610, though it has better screen, radio, JAVA (crusial to me). I had used java a lot, with my Siemens SL45i, but nevertheless, T68i seems quite handy to me, and carries all the functions I need. so I think that T68i beats that nokia
So, the final verdict would be:
Still no serious substitutes to SE...!
Overall, 6610 is not that much far from T68i, it's just all about the screen and java.
I really do hope that SE will come up with J2ME upgrade to our phones though... |

T68i with Java... Dream on...
If you don't mind the color screen, just go for 6310i |

Java is dangerous! If Nokia want Java and MMS on their phones just wait for the viruses to flood them. Norton Anti Virus will have to bring out a virus protection program for mobiles next!
JAVA is for idiots, end of.

Java is a great thing to have in your phone, not everybody understands it though, it's just like having aploading new softare on your computer different all the time.
Nokia 6610, I'm sure will be full of bugs, so need to worry about it's superiority, Nokia is still far behind SE |
