Hi Guys.
I spoke to Virgin Mobile this week and they advised me that GPRS and MMS will be at least 6 months away.

So I would start looking for another Network unless you just want cheap voice calls to other Virgin users and cheap text messages to other Virgin users.

The standard of reception/transmission quality of in Walsall, West Midlands is extremely poor.

02 would not be my first choice. I would look at Vodafone and Orange first.

That is of course personal taste.

Check out the costs of calls and text messaging and MMS before making your choice.

Hmm, seems they don't quite have 'full' GPRS yet. Only WAP via GPRS so you can't send or receive emails or use Opera via GPRS, just the built-in browser.

Unless you know otherwise, of course...

it is full GPRS, as with other sp's like O2 though it doesnt allow full http access which is a bummer as i wud like to have me emails checked quicker

(NB i know O2 offer mobile web gprs which does allow full http access to use things like opera)

good service though. works and MMS is very quick to recieve (i always had about a 10min delay on reciving mms when on o2) - cant work out if its a good price or not? any opinions/comparisons (on the latter, comparison should be relevant and not that virgin gprs is expensive vs contract with free gprs)

30p to send (100kb size limit) and free to receive - prices applicable when in UK and when roaming and irrespective of whether or not you are a payg or pay monthly customer

hope this helps, you should check out virgin.com/mobile for all the info and get the settings sent to you automatically if youre on virgin
