I just got mine: 03w20...
It has got the hiss, but I don't think it's very irritating... |

Someone on another forum bought a week 21 phone from mobilefly that he says has no hissing. Anyone else have a week 21 or later phone that can confirm that the hissing is gone? |

Mines 03w13 and only has a very slight hiss when the other person talks. To be fair I think my old nokia 8310 was much worse.

Well mine is a week 13 and hisses. It's seems as though no one bothered informing the T-Mobile staff about the problem though and so the guy I took my phone back to talked to head office about the problem. They now have some new stock in the warehouse that the head guy thinks isn't R2C so hopefully they'll be hiss free. I'll found out more Monday. They're selling like hotcakes though.

Week 19 from CPW with hiss. In my opinion it is diabolical to allow a product to ship with this problem as the hiss is very noticable. It would be unaccceptable even if the hiss was less prominent. There should be no hiss at all |

03W18 with the hiss. I'm waiting a few weeks before sending it back to Celestica though, they are advising a four week turnaround at the moment..........

I bought mine in Singapore. Build is 03W19.
It had a bad hissing problem but I took it into SE service centre and they "flashed the firmware and adjusted the speaker" and now no more problems. Great sound in fact. I also use HBH-60 with none of the problems mentioned in the forum.
All this took two days! |

If it helps, I read on a German forum that fixed T610s have either a yellow or red (not sure which one) marking on the box. Thats in Germany - not sure about other countries.

Hi,
I'm planning to purchase the t610 in Germany - assuming if it has the hissing sound, any ideas as to how I can have SE fix it for free? Can you provide a contact number?
Thanks! |

Yesterday I emailed Sony Ericsson Customer Support asking if they could confirm after what date the phones should be ok. This is their response.

Dear Mr Wright,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre.
I can not help with the manufacturing date, we have no firm confirmation of this,
We are updating as many phones as we can get hold of at the moment, there should be no phones left with this problem very soon.
The turn around time for celestica should be a day, for this upgrade, however the normal fault support will not be available for a couple of weeks.
Please note the Mac software is available at www.apple.com/isync.
Please contact the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre again if we can assist you further.
Kind Regards,
Derek Ebbrell

if you have a valid warranty for your phone every sony ericsson service centre should fix your phone for free - no matter in which country you bought it. that's what I think, maybe some other users could confirm this?

Nah doubt it. I purchased a t68 from Switzerland and went over to Malaysia. Asked 'em whether they'll do the firmware upgrade - they said no. THey only did upgrades for free to those t68s purchased in Malaysia.
But anyhow, are you in Germany? I'm thinking of buying the phone here and assuming if it has the hissing sound problem - where in Germany can I have it fixed? Can you provide a contact ? |
