T610 - hissing problem |

Hello,
is it possible to identify T610s that have the hissing problem (possibly by serial number, someone mentioned this here) without actually using the phone? Would be kind of helpful for the next shopping trip...
Anyway: is there a reason for _not_ having a separate T610 forum?

MfG |

I asked about this in here last week and (after a bit of abuse for supposedly not searching) was told there is no way to visually identify hissing phones.
However, later posts say that the phones or boxes (can anyone confirm where?) have a manufactured date printed in the format "03w17" (presumably year 03 week 17).
So, I assume phones manufactured after a particular date don't have the hiss and you could just look for a manufactured date after the hiss was fixed.
First we need someone with a non-hissing phone to post the manufactured date of their phone. |

Mine is manufactured in week 16 and does have the hiss problem.
You are correct about the manufacturing week of the SE phones. It's on a label on the back of the phone. The battery also has one! |

If it helps, I read on a German forum that fixed T610s have either a yellow or red (not sure which one) marking on the box. Thats in Germany - not sure about other countries. |

Just found out someone on another forum has the same date as me and his one doesn't hiss at all! Must be a manufacturing fault! |

Someone on another forum here reckons a manufactured date of 03w21 or later.
Anyone else confirm this? |

If the line is very quiet, and no one is speaking (no background sound) there is no problem but as soon as there is a sound (someone speaking or background noise) you get an audible hiss that 'surrounds' the speech. It's quite bad on mine and I have to hold the handset away from my ear, the only thing missing is a forked tongue coming out the speaker... |

Oh, I just thought that was general bad sound quality problem. I borowed a friends T68i quite some time ago and his sounds was very crappy compared to my old Nokia 6510 so I wasnt expecting the T610 to be that much better... But am happy to hear that this can be fixed! |

03w19 and hissing is really quite bad - just as described elsewhere in this topic - ramps up with speech at the other end. Interestingly can't be heard on handsfree, though. |
