Your right about Nokia not being the biggest threat. But if you take al closer look at the Samsung marketing it's doomed tot fail. They have to many (radically different) models coming out. Remember back in the day Samsung only launched four phones a year and the price level remained (artificially) at a high level?

Well, those days are over, no more exploiting the A300. People who bought the latest Samsung phone 2 moths ago can buy a second one halved priced. To many models means more production costs and a shorter product life cycle = less profit per phone.

Many people have different tastes, Samsung is just reflecting on that.
They have so much technical know-how in everything from semiconductor chips to displays that they can quickly make products for fast changing markets. Since their business is vertially integrated, they can control their price much better than competitors. You'll see Samsung become #2 in the world 5 months from now. They are only 3 million phones away from taking Motorola off the thrown. It's quite evident that Nokia is in their crosshairs as well.

Speaking of less profit per phone, the fact is Samsung has the biggest profit margins per phone. You can ask any market analyst about it and they will say the same.

This issue is no different than MS and everyone else. I have also used Nokia's but moved over to the T68i (at the right price) and could not be happier - the phone is fully featured and a treat to use. Provide I have no problem I am sure my next phone will also be a SE product.

guys, peace out! Ppl buy phones that suit them the most.

I was firmly a nokia man (8110, 6150, 8210), yet i bought a Ericsson for my mum (PH388). Was always amazed at the speed of the Ericsson 388 when dialing out, I dont think there is a single phone that beats it currently, but disappointed with the small screen size. the 8110 was a cult phone, and the 6150 was almost perfection (lack of built in modem for Infra Red sucked big time though coz i coudlnt use it with my palm pilot, rendering the Infra Red almost useless, kudos to Ericsson for at that time bringing a phone with infrared and modem - SH888)

Temporarily switched to a R320s, nice phone, nice display, good call quality, and voice dialling, and wap.. but let down badly by excruciatingly slooooooow menus, lack of T9 (eased somewhat by the Chatboard) and lack of decent multiple number phone book, appaling rintones (sorry this is important to me), and a stupid marker pen antenna that made the phone look enormous. together with the size and its strong build, the phone was nicknamed by my family the "Bricksson".

then switched to the 6210, coz on paper it looked good, all the features that were missing from R320s, including ISDN dial support for infrared modem data, muliple numbers, etc, and faster menus. the only thing i could say was.. WHAT A HEAP OF CRAP. it was simply the worst phone i have ever had in terms of reliability and durability. screen broke due to a manufacturing defect (Nokia refused to even honour the warranty for months), internal ariel would loose reception, causing me to have to open the phone every few weeks to clean the antenna contacts. and Nokia lack of customer service. I must be a "exception" coz there are ppl who had the 6210 and were satisfied.

In the end I voted with my feet, and moved to a T68m, and since bought a T300, and now P800. SE Customer service is MUCH better than Nokia too. SOrry I buy what works for me. Features, reliability, customer service, and value is what cuts it in my books. and i choose the best phones in the market for my needs. SE is the only company that satisfies my needs right now.

It may also be very telling that all the Nokia phones i once had are all in my "tech graveyard" in the attic (8110 battery totally crapped out, 6150 broken arial, 6210 totally f****, 8210 battery contacts busted, and dodgy screen). Were as even my R320s is being used sometimes for when someone wants to borrow a phone (it still WORKS).

BTW, i bought my dad a samsung T100, which suits him well, nice "basic phone" with excellent colour screen, and my mum a seimens SL45, (MP3, and small)... My sister bought a 6510 and a t68i, ask her which one she prefers!

each one to himself, i say....
