Well I for one don't want SE to be number one - I'm happy with them where they are! They produce good quality high end phones that remain fairly exclusive - and that's exactly what I'm after! I was the only person I knew with a T68 for ages and it is only fairly recently that they have become widespread amongst the people I know. I am hoping the T610 or the Z1010 will allow me to regain my exclusive status!
Remember market share isn't everything - GM may be the largest car manufacturer in the world but would you prefer to be driving a Ford Mondeo or a Lambourgini? |

Same future for Nokia I think because Samsung is very strong, you know.
Or perhaps one day we will see something like Samsung-Nokia perhaps?

Isn't that new Samsung phone presented @Cebit ugly? Thats a big problem with Samsung! They don't know what design means... |

Samsung's in general appeal to the masses. Lots of people like shiny flip phones. Everyone I see now adays with a new phone has a Samsung and they love it because the norm do not care what it does as long as they can text, talk and it looks nice. The t300 is perhaps the ugliest thing i've ever seen but I think i force myself to like it because I like Sony Ericsson. Either way I think Nokia will stay strong but Samsung and SE will gain some ground if their prices stay low. General masses want the 2 year freebie phones. |

Samsung phones are, to date, very unimpressive. Even the user who just wants to use their phone to talk can't, as the average battery talk-time of a samsung phone is about 80 minutes. Pathetic! The UI is pretty poor, compared to either Nokia or SE, and their top-end 2G model, the T100 is equipped with neither IR or Bluetooth.
Nice screen though...

I'm not saying they're impressive but the general impression i get from people is that it looks SOO cool. It's amazing how hooked people get.
Personally, I love my t68i |

Well, although wat he said was true that SE wasnt competitive as before, it is not going to be always like that. We all can see that most of Nokia's phones are just phones. Sometimes I dunno why they want to use aerospace materials to build their phone. But SE concentrating more on inovation. They dont always base on the same design.
And we can see that the launch of T100 and P800 is boosting Se's reputation and sales. And that will double in Q2 with the launch of T610 and Z1010 |

I'm not a fan of either samsung, panasonic or motorolla..
they release eye catchin phones for the every day idiot..
ppl like flip phones for some reason.. they r flip oriented..
everyone I know (they aint phone savy) has told me they wld rather hv a motocrappa or somethin than my P800...
some chick told me that my phone is crap compare to her 3390..
ppl dont need as much from a phone as we do so they wld rather go for bottom of the barrel also known as 33** and motorolla..
the only decent, and even then it's pretty crappy, motorolla there is is the V70..
and that Samsung w/ color screen is praised more than my P800..
ppl gather more around w/e the model # is than around god's gift to mobile (P8)

Remember the days back in the 90's when Nokia was David and Ericsson was Goliath. Nokia knows what it's like to be in that position and I think they don't wanna go back...Now also Ericsson/SE knows what it's like, but the problem is that it's much much more harder to get back nowadays. |

I've never seen a Samsung live. I can understand they're strong in NA and Asia where flip phones sell good but it's different in Europe, they don't have anything better than Nokia.

i think that every thing will change with UMTS - its like a restart of mobile communication - the thing is that Ericsson's development section is amazing, and i know that they are really exitet about umts -
did you see the UMTS phone from nokia -ugly, don't want to speak about motorolas umts phone (more than ugly) - at the moment the only inovative umts phone is the Z1010 [and i think that it will move on like this in the future - maybe not with those differences in specs] - you can't even compare Nokia's and SE's umts phone - umts is THE chance for SonyEricsson to make them a name in the mobile buisness
I hope that you understand what I want to say!

Agreed, Nokias 3G solution is awfull, I cant believe they are making a phone with a Think "Marker Pen" attennae. I thoght they killed them off with the 7110.
I know the SE design is clamshell, But i find clamshells are a nice way to get a phone with a large screen and still have a small form factor when closed.
Either way, the SE phone looks much better.
But you know.. ppl will buy the Nokiam just cos its a Nokia

people who buy umts phones (at the moment) are not the normal people - this are buisness men/women - they buy the phones which can do the most things
a normal consumer don't wants video calls or emailing (i don't understand it too) - so thats the most difficult thing - to make umts intressting for normal consumers - and thats where Ericsson comes into buisness - thats the greatest chance to take the market over -
i also want to say that i'm quit afraid of this point - Sony is not one of these normal companies, they want more - they want total conncection.... but i don't want to talk more about it - the future will show how everything will develop
