One thing that I think was not mentioned in this thread is 3 years of software support which I think it is the best for Android so far. My pixel XL is on Android Oreo with October security patch but S8 plus is in 7.0 and Note 8 on 7.1.1 both with August security patch. Samsung is really lagging behind here , shame not more people care about this |

Anyone here has a chance to read this?

Good read. Even hardcore Apple fanboys agree how great google has become at design and now creating a synergy between hardware and software to make beautiful products. Hopefully Google really sort out their supply chain deficiency and end exclusive relation with Verizon before 2019 pixel launch.

That was a great move by Google, upping the amount of time devices are updated, should push other OEMs.
Interesting situation with the updates, both Samsung and LG launching devices on 7.1 instead of 8.0, while Sony's latest are on 8.0.
I wonder if Samsung and LG are being cautious, as remember last year LG V20 was the first Android running 7.0, they made a huge deal about it, this time around LG didn't bother, they just launched it with 7.1 and worked on making a device that is stable.
How is 8.0 on your Pixel? What are the major features over what we have in 7.1?

In UK it looks like it will still be exclusive on one network (EE). Hope it will still be more easily available compared to last year Pixel

My XL is running great on Oreo. Really it is on now way slower than Note 8 (maybe even slightly snappier ). Really it's a great phone just wish it had a larger screen.(like Pixel XL 2 but with headphone jack 😉
Oreo new features are mostly under the hood . My favourite are the much faster boot up , the new background limit which helps the battery , the adaptive icons (Samsung launcher could really use this ), the ambient screen . Anyway a lot is under the hood and makes the phone run much better . It is more stable than 7.0 was last year
For more about Oreo see here

Also at least Note 8 is on 7.1 but how about S8 .. a Samsung flagship and still on 7.0 Samsung makes beautiful phones by their update system is not great

Yikes, V30 oled screen is really bad according to theverge's review. Now I'm afraid for pixel 2 xl's screen as it'll use the same screen. This is maybe the real deal breaker for pixel 2 xl for many people.

My thought too about the display.
It is pretty bad and reminds of the OLED found in Nokia models before.
Too blue and cold for my taste.

Ouch with regards to the display.
It's a difficult technology, OLED.

This is the real deal. This is incredible news to me.
Google has made custom image processor for pixel 2 phones. It's deactivated but it will be activated in the coming months.

Google is really taking mobile photography in a place no other companies dare to take. Great job google and can't wait to see what they bring to the future. |

Engadget Score
Google
Pixel 2 XL
91
Pros
Excellent performance
Long battery life
Truly impressive camera
It's finally water resistant
Android 8.0 is powerful and accessible
eSIM works well with Project Fi
Cons
No microSD slot or headphone jack
There are better big screens out there
Unlimited full-res photo storage only lasts three years
Really good score and pros and cons on Engadget. It seems like the screen (and for me the lack of 3.5 mm jack) are the only week points for this phone
