I still honestly believe that most people thought Sony Ericsson was already Sony, I know I've said this before but it's so true.
SE JAPAN is so SONY...
Perhaps those cool designs that were "FOR JAPAN MARKET ONLY" would probably be seen globally. I sure hope so. |

this explains why there force xperia blog to close the domain. this is bullsiht if they change from sony ericsson to ericsson. what am i going to do? where am i going to work in the future? whats gonna become of xperia. im so gonna cry . this feels like when concorde died
my lovely x10 my p1i omg. all the lovely design will stop.
im hoping the best for sony. idk i just love the name sony ericsson and the liquid logo im going to sleep
i may disagree here because i think the designs were totally sony , sony products may have degraded in quality over years but they still know how to come up with killer designs in all their products.i think sony is only second to apple when it comes to design and may be better.

This news simply put the last nail on SE's coffin, now a company that's gone 10~ years ago will make a comeback, i don't have that much faith though, but i'll give them a chance for sure |

Was listening to Radio 4 last night and business news spoke about this. And a Sony boss was speaking saying how well Sony have coped since the quake in Japan. They have rebuilt a factory already. As for designs i did point out in another thread that one of the latest Sony mp3 players resembles the Xperia Ray design. It has the rounded home key. So Sony is influential with these latest designs.

The people working for Sony Ericsson today will still be working for Sony after Ericsson is out of the picture. It won't be a ethnic cleansing so the workforce will still be a mix of mostly Europeans and Asians. I do not think half the workforce will leave the day the transaction is competed. |

So the smartphone-focused strategy in the future that was announced by Mr Nordberg still effective even after Sony takes control?
one thing for sure i would like a dual screen vertical clamshell phone with rotating hinge in the future (i missed clamshells btw), maybe Sony should consider making one model even if its just for show

^^ I want a minimalistic logo this time, like Vaio or alpha, then make it glow in the back, but that won't happen soon as SE name is about to last for the next ~2 years

That is just Eldar Murtazin speaking rubbish. Sony CEO told the press yesterday that they will not use the name Sony Ericsson. Still Eldar wants to go about and post rubbish on his Twitter page.

They should simply use Sony as the brand - Apple does, whether it's mp3 players , smartphones, laptops/pcs or TV's |

It will still be SONY of course but they are thinking of the sub brand. Even Apple has sub brands like Macbook for its laptops, iMac for desktops, ipod for mp3 players, etc.
And those who think Sony cannot design phones as good as Ericsson should really go and take a look back at the Sony Ericsson Japan phones. IMO they are as good as any "Ericsson" if not better.

Sony Xperia brand would certainly be a go...
However, Xperia phones didn't kick off.. SE literally failed with the Xperia smartphone family..
So it's not wise to keep using the same name for a band which isn't highly viewed by the consumer..
Sony need to introduce something new on every level.. Make it a complete new start..
And btw, the Sony tables didn't pick that much attention either!
Sony in general are losing much ground lately on almost all levels! There were even talks about Sony entering a slow death phase! So expectations for this shift shouldn't be that high really, but I don't think they'll any worse than SE did... |

I think people tend to forget the K800 , awesome phone with it's xenon flash and superior build quality. It was the last i could honestly be really, really proud to own.

I had the silver K800i here on O2 years ago. It was the longest time I ever kept a phone. I had it 13 months A record for me I loved it for the camera,Xenon flash, build, reliability, long battery life, excellent signal strength but not the joystick
