= = = (correct) ????

well. we can all agree on that a Sonyericsson phone with full working firmware runs quick. (and that all whos matter)

Plank if they are talking about ARM9 they are wrong C905 have two ARM9E and 'E' makes big difference

well. they didnt mention that. they only wrote ARM9 clocked 149 Mhz, so i pretty sure they meant the same as you (they are not some rookies in this business, thats for sure )

so c902 have also ARM9E but clocked at 169 Mhz ????

I don't know nothing about frequency, this is quite complicated thing in ARM and depends on various parameters. old K850 is 2x ARM926 (9E), so I guess C902 is in the same league, still both DB3150

BTW.
both CPUs are independent. one controls access subsystem (GSM, EDGE, GPRS, USB, etc.), second controls application subsystem (graphics, audio, keypad, etc.)

The estimator is just an Estimation, the other site probably got the clock speed from the estimator. C902 is not clocked at 169Mhz as the estimator says, more likely it it 200-250Mhz (same with C905)

Had anyone heard of Intel-speedstep or AMD Coo-and-Quiet like technology on mobile phone CPUs? why are people constantly thinks that phone CPUs runs static at its max frequency? i won't believe that phones like C902 and C905 have different CPUs installed nor different clock speed, but rather on the fact that their performance depend on how much load it runs and the corresponding clock rate sufficient enough to complement on the running application while saving power.

can anyone confirm that cellphone CPUs runs like a ex, core 2 duo (speed step, etc) ???? i really doubt they use same function as a PC.

some of MHz estimation results on jbenchmark.com are quite good

plankgatan,

Want proof? Read my first post, and perhaps add a bit of common sense to the equation.

You're right - the great majority of cellphone CPU's don't come anywhere near PC/notebook performance.

It's only recently that higher powered CPU's with excellent power consumption stats like the Qualcomm Snapdragon became incorporated into mobiles such as Toshiba's TG01 :

http://www.qualcomm.com/produ[....]vices/chipsets/snapdragon.html

Samsung ,LG,Nokia , HTC and other companies are seriously considering it for their next generation cellphones specially since it's being geared to run Android.

Some key features taken from the above site :

1GHz CPU
600MHz DSP
Support for Linux® and Windows Mobile®
WWAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity
Seventh-generation gpsOne® engine for Standalone-GPS and Assisted-GPS modes, as well as gpsOneXTRA™ Assistance
High definition video decode (720P)
3D graphics with up to 22M triangles/sec and 133M 3D pixels/sec
High resolution XGA display support
12-megapixel camera
Support for multiple video codecs
Audio codecs: (AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, FR, EFR, HR, WB-AMR, G.729a, G.711 , AAC stereo encode)
Support for Broadcast TV (MediaFLO™, DVB-H and ISDB-T)
Fully tested, highly-integrated solution including baseband, software, RF, PMIC, Bluetooth, Broadcast & Wi-Fi

you've been driven away in confusion with plank's post, we are talking about speedstep/cool and quiet(a feature that reduces clock frequency on processors while in idle to save power)-like feature on mobile CPUs and not on the comparability of their performance!

One more time: that JBenchmark test knows nothing about the CPU speed. It rather tells the story of software optimization. When it comes to C902 vs. C905 the right conclusion would be that the tested firmware on the C902 is better optimized than that of the tested C905. Which is no surprise since the C902 has been around longer.

It's Swedish though, so it would be the best in the mind of some people.
