Maybe...
All I know is tomtom 5 on p910i had better refresh rate than tomtom6 on p1i. I have also seen some examples of slow tomtom on N95 as well so like you said it is probably not due to processor overload.

How about tomtom 7? Is that expected to be released for UIQ?

I originally used tt6 on my p1i with the older firmware (30?). I upgraded to the next firmware (41), and it seems to have a problem loading. It takes a couple of minutes to load, then it runs fine. I'm hoping the latest firmware is better.

Hola..

Is it as simple as it was on the P990i, W950i to set up?

copy the default folders to the root of a memory card and it should install automatically?

or is there some new special way of installing tomtom?

ta!

Hi fatreg
Yep it works in exactly the same way only better! I have it on my P1 and love it

I thought that was only for S60. Is there one for UIQ3 as well?

Looks like you provide your own maps...

The maps are stored in own format which is very efficient, they can be built by an included Windows program (Map Builder) based on Google maps in a few seconds. Also it is possible to build maps from Ozi Explorer's format or any other bitmap (see more infromation in attached documentation).

So - worldwide if you want I guess...

Dear All,

does anybody know if in EU we can buy a commercial GPS receiver working at 4Hz as refresh rate (4 true positions per second) ?

I know U-Blox chips work at 4Hz (see http://www.u-blox.com/products/a4products.html), but they apparently do not sell "ready-to-use" GPS receivers ...

Any other brand ? (also with configurable refresh rate under Linux ...)

Thanks,
Mxlena

Hi,

I've got a P1i, and I just bought TomTom Navigator 6 to use with it, along with the australian map. TomTom do not sell mobile products in Australia, so I had to buy the US version via Expansys' online store.

TomTom has installed successfully, and I was able to download the Australian Map using TomTom Home, but it won't install to my device, it says it's not compatible.

I contacted TomTom support and they told me that a) they don't sell Navigator in Australia, and b) it isn't officially supported on P1i.

I've seen plenty of comments from people using TomTom on a P1i, at least a few in Australia.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I'm using tt6 with australian maps on a p1i with 8gb M2 . My suggestion would actually be to google the cracked version just because the install instructions might help you with your legit copy.

Let us know how fast it loads, because after a firmware update mine now takes a couple of minutes to load.
