GPS becoming a standard in a SE phone. WHEN? |

I must add...
The thing i would like to see, is a j2me app that have stored maps on the memory cards, like street and trips or tomtom, not a software that you need to make and calibrate maps yourself, or an app downloading by gprs data on the go.
A simple software with road maps you can choose to load by country, states or provinces, would be great. |

OBVIOUSLY Nokia realised that solution WAS NOT user-friendly hence them moving the memory card slot out of the sim and battery area. You pointing that out and saying Nokia copied it from SE realy is a desperat attempt to make Nokia look bad.

the answer to your question is NEVER!!as like p1i se screw it up with gps issue..so i dont know if they re able to make a phone with proper INTERNAL gps...
What a stupid comment. The SE Z750 has internal gps so they are certainly capable of implementing gps.

Although I have no need for a GPS unit on my mobile phone, it is useful for as long as it can still function accurately within an urban jungle.
I personally use Garmin GPS navigators when I go out of town and all... but have no real use for it when signal reception fails when buildings start blocking satellite signals.
The size of the GPS chip isn't the issue... nor is the antenna sensitivity... it's the actual satellite signal presence that is the issue. Rural areas have it better with less signal reflection and radio clutter.
has had no real significant technology contribution... it was always that did all the research and tech breakthroughs... not Sony, or Sony and know how to repackage existing tech and give it a fancy name... but that's it.
has an external GPS accessory for use with their current phones... I'm guessing it has better satellite reception as well being an external module. Haven't tried it... would rather get a BT GPS module and mount it somewhere with better signal.
I'm guessing will start showing interest in GPS when it starts seeing a real market for it. Right now, the battle is really in the camera and music area. Maybe in a year or 2, when GPS services become more useful, will funnel more funds into GPS modules.

Personaly i don't see the need for internal gps, you can buy a bluetooth module for cheap and it's easier to locate it on the dash of the car.....
With that kind of thinking we would still be using clip-on camera's like that of the T68i!!! The usage of GPS is growing too rapidly for it not to be a standard. Lodging ur phone on the dash can be done whether the GPS is internal or external.
On the price issue, top notch bluetooth GPSs go for $250+. The ones to be used in phone would defitely be cheaper to make . I dont see it adding up to $150 to the cost of a phone. (but hey, Im not an expert!!!!!) |

more like the fact that you can't accept that SE makes phones that are lacking many features and are buggy. |
