I thought the whole yates thing was funny enough to even warrant a phone call to my mother. The humor was lost on her a bit but my sister thought it was hilarious.
As for gthe W580... just don't care for the form factor. I do however like the W610 but it isn't availble either from SE.
And you can bet I will most certainly be looking into some type of coverage for whatever replacement I end up with.

Yeah moms don't care much for that type of humor. If you can just hold out with a "in-between" phone for a few months, At&t should be picking up k850 in march 08'. Don't know if you're under contract, but At&t won't pick it up unless all intitial issues are all worked out. Worth the wait IMO. You can just unlock it when firmware becomes available. Whatever phone you decide on you should buy a "invisishield" for it b4 you even get the phone. Check accessories forum to see what I'm talking about. Stuff is great.

I'm under conttract with T-Mobile and just had to extend for two years in order to get a free replacement (in between) phone (piece of crap) that I detest so much I won't even talk or text on it in public.
As for the K850, although I can't fathom a new phone without a flash, my main interest is in the music side of my handset over camera functions. This is why I have really only consifdered a W series so far.
And yeah, what is invisishield, I'll check that out. |

Well finally! After a bit of poking around I found that the Sony Style site sells refurbished handsets and discontinued handsets at a markdown so of course I jumped on that.
My new W810 arrived earlier this week and for all appearances is good as new. After I unpacked it all I noticed the memory card was missing and I contacted them and they shipped me out a new one, no questions asked. They also gave me a retroactive credit due to a sudden price drop from the time that I ordered the handset a week prior.
I'm loving having this phone again and will be far more careful this time around. And for those wondering, yes, my memory card from the previous handset still works with all my music, video, pics, and a few unmentionables still intact.
I'm so pleased with this purchase that when I finally do decide on an upgrade, I think I'll go this refurbished route again and would recommend it as a cheaper alternative.
Meanwhile, I hear the ROKR E8 is finally surfacing, perhaps to T-Mobile. Curious if anyone has seen this handset firsthand? |

Hey glad you got another w810i. Having a hard time deciding if I really even want to get a new phone. I'm big on not having to deal with any issues. Check this topic. Have pics of my w810i with that shield I was telling you about. http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=162304

Thanks for the link. And by the looks of those pics I can't even tell you've got anything wrapped up around your phone. I'm definitely going to look into this. Too bad they don't have the dork proof water repellent version available for klutzes like your's truly. Time will tell.
And yeah, I totally feel you about not wanting to "deal with issues." Once you own your phone like the back of your hand it is so humbling to reacquaint yourself with a new handset in private before you're savvy enough to whip it out in public without looking like a total moron.
I've already found myself stumbling a few times over the simplicity of the SE UI after having been punished the last few months with that bastard of a Nokia replacement I had to deal with for a while. I had to retard myself in order to function smoothly with it and now I'm back peddling trying to unlearn the ill behavior.
That all said though, if they come out with a future W810ish handset with ALL the same features but just smash it to half it's width, I'm all over it. |
