since motorola's first priority is to penetrate US market (which i guess SE is not concentrated atm) and given motorola's partnership with SE in UIQ development i'm sure this could have a positive effect on the future of UIQ. if motorola's UIQ solution becomes popular in the US market, this could increase developer interest towards UIQ. and more and more UIQ units from both companies would increase it's userbase thus increasing developer interest to write applications for the platform. honestly i would love to see non-TS UIQs for SE high-end camera-centric phones and The TS version for the business ranges(P & M series indeed ).

I think SE is developing a range of UIQ walkman and cybershot phones, to be announced in june 2008?
Just my speculations.. |

I see your point completely. I too want SE to release something innovative yet simple. They have done so before with the T610... hopefully (or shall I say) they will do it again. I'm very hopeful that something amazing and new will be announced in the November annoucement. |

I might have to disagree to you about SE not coming to US atm. Didn't Miles Flint announced that SE would be challenging the US market by putting in more models? So I guess we WILL see UIQ phones more in the US market(If not, the HTC and Blackberry will kick our butt LOL) |

Hi Guys!
I would like to ask if who really is the Codename "Mooi"? Some says its the W960i but others says its the upcoming model better than W960i.
I have read the W960i review made by mobile review and it says:
W960i Hardware Specifications:
Codename: Maria
OS: Symbian 9.1, UIQ 3.0
CPU: ARM9, 220 Mhz (real clock rate – 180 Mhz)
RAM volume: 128 Mb, after start-up around 70 Mb available
Flash memory volume: 256 Mb (95 Mb occupied by the system, up to 160 Mb available for user-data)
Built-in memory volume: 8 Gb
So, W960i is "Maria" and "Mooi" (who is said to be the iphone killer) is not yet out, and its the one we've been waiting for. Am i right?
By the way, I am disappointed with the review. The last sentences says, "This model fails as the company’s music-heavy flagship, and there is no real explanation of what has affected the developers to this extent, so that they have come up with a product like this. A few more models designed in the same fashion should be enough to get the brand’s loyal consumers to switch over to Nokia’s solutions, which have more of Sony Ericsson’s spirit today than Sony Ericsson itself."
We better wait for "Mooi".

That's rubbish. W960 is Mooi, while Maria is not yet announced.

Eldar excoriated the W960i and Sony Ericsson.
I can hardly find a positive statement.

That's why the 15th of November is a VERY important date for SE staying alive... |

Thats what I'm thinking. The devices announced mid-November will be competing with what other manufacturers have available mid 2008, so they will have to be a 'step up' compared to this years offerings.
Of course I wouldn't be surprised if we seen more 3.2MP and 2.0MP offerings as there is still a demand for these phones. I would like to see the Cyber-shot range broaden out with more 3.2MP and 5.0MP versions.

It'd also be nice to see some more decent specced NON-branded handsets, a la T650, too......

I prefer a Java-based T650 upgrade with descent camera and audio quality.

What is against branded handsets? T650i was nice, but it wouldn't be less nice if it was Walkman or Cybershot branded, would it? |

In addition to the P3i (which better at least match the N95 in terms of tech), SE needs to release a Cybershot Clamshell like the W54s in Europe, Asia, and North America. The Z750i doesn't cut it anymore. |
