You can recover it pal. I did it yesterday. With the broke black part press the inside of the tube where the screw tip is stucked and twist it like you were unscrewing it normally. It will come out a little. Then use a sharp point (a needle or something), penetrate the stucked tip and keep unscrewing. Worked for me. Then, Crazy Glue.

Didn't work for me, in the end had to take it to the Carphone Warehouse to get it sorted. They charged me £45 for it, and the b*astards didn't even include a spare stylus. Now, if only SE acknowledge the issue with the stylus and I can get my money back ........

There is NO real problem with the P1 stylus in regular use, I have only ever broken one stylus, and that was when I overtightened it, you simply cannot break one in normal use.
The way to stop the only real issue with the P1 & P990 Styli is very very simple.
Put a spot of super glue on each thread top and bottom screw in a wipe of excess glue leave for 1/2 hour before putting it back in the phone. It will never come lose again (at least non of mine have!!!!!)
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

I recently switched to WM after four years of UIQ, and for me its a clearly superior OS, sorry. We all have different tastes, yada yada, but WM is a clear leader for me in most fields.
On a side note, nobody should be having to crack open the crazy glue to fix an expensive, warrantied, smartphone. Not unless they dropped it down the stairs, anyway.

I enjoy the P1i very much, it is my first smartphone, so I would like it if someone could answer this for me: Can the stylus scratch the screen? I've already got little scratch marks , and I've only ad the phone a week. How do I clean the screen to prevent these scratches? Please help!

Just to say that yesterday I just broke my second stylus.
Once it starts to unscrew it's only a matter of time until it breaks, specially if you are a bit overstressed while typing and hold the stylus ... well, in a tressed way!
Unfortunatelly I didn't notice it was uncrewing, so in my next stylus I'm gona glue it with super glue!!

Yes, over time the screen surface can become scratched, especially if you use handwriting input a lot. I do, so I got a screen protector, IMHO Martin Feilds make the best one, there is very little friction with HWR & it's crystal clear - without the distortion that you get with some....

I'm on my third stylus in six months. I glued the second when it started coming loose but it still broke in the end.
Apart from heavy usage for writing input, the main culprit was K-Rally. The way I held the stylus tended to try and bend it (the excitement of the game!!), breaking the top plastic insert where it screwed in.
Now I've stopped playing K-Rally the problem seems resolved

oh crap.. just broke mine too. sat on it and the upper part broke in the screw area. to be sure I just ordered a 3 set from ebay. I'm waiting to get them and I wonder how good they are..
@AD Martin Fields rocks!! it's the best quality you can get from a display cover. Only for curiousity.. what other brands have you tried? (sorry for the OT)

Yes, the stylus can put scratches on the screen; it's part of the wear-and-tear process. If you're afraid of damaging the screen, you should have installed a screen protector when you first got the phone. To clean the minor scratches, try using toothpaste, especially one that is advertised to produce "whiter teeth."

I've tried several over the years since I had my P900, don't recall the brands - they were mostly v.cheap via ebay...
One notable exception was NU-sheild - found them to be very robust, though as they don't actually stick to the screen, one has to be careful that there is no dust at all beneath it. As the film moves slightly, it can grind such particles into the screen - this only happened once though to be fair.
The main reason I prefer MF is that I'm simply not aware of it most of the time.

Yeah.. the MF display protector is unnoticeable. I ordered one just 2 months ago and I still have it on. I found it a little hard to place.. I mean it requires a lot of care and under no circumstance I didn't succeeded in removing ALL dust particles from the screen. Did you ever washed it and put it back? |
