I just dont know.
Sorry i should have made it clearer, I was saying that it isnt illegal to take it to shops etc to have the phone unlocked.
But its a waiting game now regarding the iphone i think.
The question is, what is o2 and iphone going to do

Apple reminds customers who's boss
Apple has issued a notice that unlocked iPhones could suffer permanent damage when they update the firmware, and reminded customers that such damage is not covered by the warranty.
The process of unlocking an iPhone is complicated, and involves code running at a pretty low level in the OS. Users may feel confident that they can always re-flash their iPhones using iTunes, but even that requires a working kernel (minimal OS) on the phone - damage that and you've got a Jesus doorstop.
Such damage is unlikely. Far more probable is that every time an update is installed users of unlocked iPhones will have to unlock them again, but Apple felt the need to remind people of the risk they take when unlocking the handset or installing third-party applications.
Engineers inside O2, the UK operator deploying the iPhone in November, are under the impression that Apple will be able to re-lock phones to their network when they're updated, but that will depend on the unlock process used and if Apple can be bothered to apply the resources needed to reverse it.
The assumption among many iPhone buyers seems to be that no matter what Apple does, the hackers will make everything work. The faith in techno-anarchism is touching, but may be misplaced if Apple just reverses everything with each update.
One Apple fan has even suggested all this is a good thing as it will drive Apple to create must-have upgrades, to encourage users to install them, making the iPhone an even better product for everyone

Hi all,
The first point i was making is calling 200MB unlimited is well frankly laughable, the second is if you have an Data intensive device and are actually using it as such you may get a nasty surprise when you go over your 200MB limit and suddenly get hit with what a £2per MB charge.
To assume all users with both push E-Mail, live weather updates and a glorious browser are hardly going to use it seems very unrealistic to me. To me it just looks like 02 Apple are out to make as much money as possible and remember you are paying £35 on the lowest Tariff for 200minutes and 200 texts and unlimited Data that is actually only 200MB which makes this a very expensive tariff for what it offers IMO.
Just comapre it to other available tariffs where you would get more minutes more texts and a minimium of 1GB of Data for a lot less.
Who cares at this point what Apple or 02 say re locking your device the fact that once it has been unlocked it can use any Sim proves this iPhone having to use a special Sim and be activated is nothing more than an illegal control practice. If indeed it is proved that you buy your iPhone outright at point of sale both of these practices are illegal as force you to stay with 02. I just can't wait for the iPhone to officially launch to see how this plays out and if 02 or Apple have picked up on the numerous threads and change the sales model or just blunder on believing they are untouchable because they say so.

The 200MB is firstly, a fair usage policy, therefore you can trickle over it a little, and secondly thats 200MB of MOBILE WEB PAGES not the full blown internet, 200MB for most people is absolutely fine.
Anyway, if you don't like it, fine, just don't go with O2, noones making you.

Yes you can. you do have to request i tho.

Yep you can the bolt on from 28th Sept.
If you are on Contract it will run from your next billing date.
Its called Web Bolt on. You will get 200mb of data.
However the Data you currently get with your contract is removed.
So if you are on a online Tarriff you get to loose the 1mb. As the O2 Web is sort of fair usage, so after your 200mb, you get a sms asking you yo calm it down for a while. (I beleive) |

Someone from 02 must of tried ringing me yesterday then to sort this as I cannot think of anyone with a 070 code lol
I might get them to add it onto my account mindyou i'd rather much have a lower line rental atm

I've been having a lot of trouble with CPWH O2 now.
I put in a request to cancel my contract and a PAC code on the 17th of September. Haven't received one yet. Every five days once they give me a 3 day deadline.
On 17th it was five days.
The next time it was end of month due to 'backlogs'
Four days ago it was 48 hours.
So today I call them up first thing in the morning the guy says you can't get your PAC code unless I write in instead of phoning! I say I've called up your customer care team three or four times regarding my PAC code and none told me about it!
He apologises and says there aint anything more he can do about it now! He says 'With all due respect you should have written in'. He shifts the blame...
So I hang up and call them up again and say I'm gonna record this conversation because you keep making a complete idiot out of me every time. Permission to record refused.
Finally after a lot of what_on_earth_is_happening talks I've been given a new deadline. Friday 6.00 PM.
I wouldn't mind if it would take them 30 days to send me a PAC code but why on earth do they keep making false promises and suddenly do a U-turn today ??
I know two people who received their PAC codes after putting in their requests to the same CPWH O2 in five working days!
I was not rude to the call centre people but all this leaves a really bad taste in the mouth.

^^ That doesn't sound right at all. It sounds like they're fobbing you off. Phone up again and speak to someone else - they'll probably tell you something different, again.

My mate recieved his Pac in about 48hrs via text and a few days later a letter with it arrived is CPW different to normal 02 ?

the past 2 months ive not recieved the email from 02 saying there collecting money from my account is everyone else still getting theres?
doesn't bother me but I do check my email regularley and having those emails are better then trying to gain access into your 02 accounts,
after 12midnight it's like the gremlins have taken over there website most nights
