Symbion or smartphone? |

Just for your information...the PocketPC Phone edition also qualifies as a SmartPhone! And its very nice....more smart than phone, but very nice. As for having a spit fight over who is going to be the winner, I think thats a bit short sighted, neither technology is proven, and both promised more than they delivered, and both only have 2 or 3 offerings, not nearly enough to declare a winner or loser. I think Microsoft has the software advantage just because of the ease of development for these products (based on a large windows developer base). Its true that Symbian has a huge manfucaturer following, but the carriers are getting tired of thier slow move in technology (the hardware manufacturers, not Symbian)...they have not offered anything compelling in years. Here in the US Microsoft has already teamed up with all the major GSM and CDMA carriers to provide thier devices and infrastructure for businesses to use the devices. T-Mobile with the PocketPC Phone Edition, AT&T with the upcoming Smartphone2000 and the currently available Siemens SX-56, Cingular plans a Smartphone2000 launch, and Verizon (the largest US Carrier) is totally Microsoft with their partnership with MSN. I have yet to see any Symbian companies do this type of marketing to carriers. Add to that the fact that Motorola is the biggest handset manufacturer and seller in the US, and that Microsoft has teamed with them, and you will find that Symbian has an up hill battle against Microsoft. Add to it the fact the Microsoft has a huge battle chest of Money, and the Symbian Consortium of Manufacturers are doing anything but well financially, and the picture is dim. This does not mean that they will not make it...just that the deck is stacked against them at this point in time.

Smartphones, as introduced by microsoft, uses the same pocketpc 2002 os plus mobile phone features. Its like having a pocketpc and a phone in one package. MS has really done it good this time for their new release of the ppc 2002, fixing bugs and adding more features like support for wi-fi and bluetooth. It has windows media player 9, pocket word, excel, internet explorer.. Evrything ur pc can do. 3d games are great.

Look, the expression; smartphone is not a standard set by Microsoft! If you read up on symbian news, you will notice that samsung, siemes, panasonic etc. have all excepted the the symbian platform to run on their future SMARTPHONES! So this means that Microsoft will lose market for their os, as most of the major mobile phone manufacturers choose symbian as their operative system!

Symbion will not go because smart phones OS are better than Symbion. you should think, symbion phones or smart phones(with pocket PCs OS) in the future symbion = none becuase programmers does not programmed symbion to future mobile phone OS. Because it will not do anything if smart phones born |

Look, Symbian has been available a long time in the phone market. The Symbian os has mediaplayers, browsers and all the other stuff, and it is stable and fast. Besides pocketpc os isn't that great in the first place anyway. I would never ever buy a Microsoft based phone. I want a reliable phone that isn't resource hungry, cause resource hungry means lousy standby and talktimes... Just look at pocketpc's

OK! Symbion has media player or browsers but i said that symbion will be die in the FUTURE because smart phones will be support full of 3G time and you said that you will be no buy Microsoft OS system in smart PCs. No i post the link about this subject, palm or some software will be develop to smart pcs, only not Microsoft OS but Microsoft OS's will be better than other software because we know that, microsoft has too many tests than the others because Microsoft gave this idea with Bill Gates Tablet PC's conference. |
