I like the fact that Fatreg, who is trying to help Esato and its users, started this thread to help stop the hatred and some people here seem to be using it for just that reason.

Well I part of the issue is that 'fans' for the other manufacturers, Nokia in particular, expect this forum and its members to be totally objective in their views of phones. Now that'd be a perfect forum. People giving advice without any bias at all, but truth is, that's not and never will be the case.
A few notable members go around flaming others for SE bias, despite the fact the Esato is a Sony Ericsson based forum. It started off like that, and it will probably always have predominantly Sony Ericsson users, so some type of leeway has to be given to allow for at least a little bias.
So then these 'fans from other brands (FFOB)' start going on about what people say, nitpicking little points, blowing it up into huge arguments about whether someone like or the Nokia equivalent. Then accusations fly in from them about SE bias, and vice versa, they get accused of Nokia bias.
Problem is, everyone commenting in that thread is biased to a particular brand, but the majority can only see that only they are totally objective and everyone else is a fanboy.
I'd like to think that when I take part I give objective opinions about phones, and only opinions in which I know are true. I don't like commenting on what I don't know. But then again, I don't deny that I prefer Sony Ericsson over Nokia, especially because their products cater towards my needs specifically. But I don't give ludicrous statements which I know are exaggerations or false.
Problem is, those FFOBs don't take notice of the generally fair and balanced statements made my either myself or others. They notice the newly registered fanboys and start going on about everyone being fanboys of SE, and using that as 'proof' that their brand is better.
So it's really all about understanding, and especially for the FFOBs (who are the minority), that there is always going to be bias in this forum, and people are not going to turn around and happily accept their views whether right or wrong.

I'm with fatreg, themarquise, cycovision, jcwhite and the others who are tired of the never-ending hate wars. Over what - phones. A good amount of objectivity is what we need. Different people have different needs (or even preferences), and we all ought to respect that.
Nowadays, I just skip the wars - as tempted as I am to bash a few heads in anger over their non-objectivity Of course, doing that would only further add fuel to the furnace (as I discovered the few times I did bash).
I have visited Esato almost daily the past 3 years, and posted on a wide range of issues. Yet the last time I owned an SE was - what - 2 years ago or so. Mobiles are tools; not my life.
Whatever happens, I'll keep coming, if only to post in the regional threads at the worst.

what really do excites me on esato are the updates and news posted by "axxr" and other members, i always look for it definitely everyday and my thanks to them. after that i will scan on forum posts and replies which kinda hook me at times into "subjective" comments which actually not healthy most of the times.
and at this point well, i need to loose this VS mentality and reach everyones thought with undrstanding. |

I'm glad someone started this topic, as if not I would have done!
I'm all for healthy debate on different models, it's just when the fanboys get involved and start flaming each other and all the pointless 'SE rulez' stuff starts that it gets tedious and very annoying!
Like AYA I've avoided those topic to avoid wanting to bang some heads together!

You're spot on, that's the best thing to do now, just avoid it all.
What I am sick and tired of is repetative posts saying the same thing that "I" need this, that se phone doesn't have it, therefore se is crap for everyone and the highest spec nokia announced at the time is better.
Say it a couple of times ok. But this is posted again and again and again and again.... and again... in all the main threads.
There was a thread for it, but when that got boring, it moved on to other peoples threads in other sections. If you say anything (as I and a couple of others have) because you disagree and see it as an unfair/biased way to look at it based on their personal needs, they try to labled you a se fanboy and easto has a fanboy problem, somebody do something.
There is a member who always post good fair arguments I haven't seen post in the last week or so. If you put effort and thought into your post trying to make them fair etc and you get treated badly, then you get tired of trying. I think that's who fatreg is talking about too.
