Get P990 now or wait for the P1? |

Quickly:
1. P1i has a great RAM, P990 has less RAM, BUT in fact I have very rarely problems with it.
2. P990 has BIGGER screen, and marvellous one hand operating system with flip. Flip open - P990 has real QWERTY, P1 has semi QWERTY.
3. P990 is cheap!
4. But P1i is new.
So you should choose by yourself.
I have a P990 and will not change it until a real successor of P990 will come. I can work with my phone and do what I want. I don't suffer (Also memory cards are different on these phones, so too much work right now with reinstalling apps and data via computer, without a REAL change of the device).P1i has a terrible form factor for me and my choice of Pseries was also made because of form factor (flip open AND flip closed in one device). |

If the money isn't issue, I would wait for the P1i, because it should be available in July |

I traded my m600i for p990i today, just to try something new. I can definatly say that I will get the P1 as it is the perfect phone for me.
From m600i:
The formfactor (Don't think I can stay with p990i too long, dont like the size)
The keyboard
From p990i:
camera
WLAN
+ better RAM

"Semi QWERTY" is an anagram for "only idiots will like it".
If it's true what someone said that the true successor to P990 is about a year away then my P990i's successor will probably be the E90.

Thanks guys for all the advice. This has actually made my decision a bit harder! Money is a bit a of issue and a cheap P990 now is very appealing. The fact that the P1 has more RAM is the biggest issue for me.
I hope the OS of the P990 will be upgraded via a firmware to the one similar to that on the P1 - I hope this will further resolve the memory handling issues of the P990. Has there been any word to confirm this from SE? I know they never upgraded the UIQ on the P800 to that for the P9xx!
While the camera is much better in the P1, I wonder if it's good enough to replace a standalone digital camera? Most photos taken using phones don't make it to print.
One question though is WILL SE DELIVER THE P1ON TIME?
So, still debating, but closer to a decision.

I've been printing photos taken off camera phones since T68i- nothing to shout about here since it's VGA quality, so it's not the best substitute for a camera, but since my S700 I realized that a SonyEricsson 1.3mp is as good as some dedicated cameras out there, let alone 3.2mp. I've never used a dedicated camera since then, and even now 2mp off my P990 gives me excellent print quality- you'd be surprised, because no one would guess that it came from a phone. Higher pixels than this aren't really necessary if it is not for commercial purposes |

Totaly agree mate. My P990 camera is the only one I have and I am very satisfied. I use to print my photos here and there and as you said everyone is surprised when told it came from a phone. |

Oh, I am so so so tempted to get the P990 now after all that feedback. Coupled with the fact that it is going for about US$400 now....

when P1i officially launching (maybe a couple of weeks) P990i price will sure drop by alot again, by tht time M600i user may step into a dilemma to get P1 or P990.

Concerning "much better" - can you prove that somehow ? I'd love to see two shots of the same object ( kind of book with small text ) made by P990 and P1 respectively, with selftimer on to prevent hands trembling. Then I could compare. Currently I have no big confidence in that claim ( that P1 camera is much more better than one P990 has ) |
