Get P990 now or wait for the P1? |

Small dilemna guys, hope you can help?!
Now that the P990 is stable and the bugs have been fixed - well, most of them it appears, do you reckon it is worthwhile getting it now or waiting for the P1? I currently have a P910 which is due for replacement after a long tour of duty.
If it is to be it is up to me! |

Thanks for the advice man. And the stability issues people talk about? Have those truly been sorted out now?

I've found my P990 to be very stable since I upgraded it to the latest firmware using SEUS.
Personally, the only reason I'd wait for a P1 if I didn't have a P990 already is possibly because of the smaller form factor but having said that, I like bigger smartphones anyway. Less fiddly to use!

... well p990i is "cheap" now... and P1 will be a while yet, and may not be fit for use for, hmmm, a year

Couple of questions for y'all with regards the form factor:
1. How easy is it to use the P990 with a single hand - without the flip or with?
2. Can anyone who has used the M600 confirm how easy to get used to the keyboard is - especially to message with one hand for example? How would that compare with the P990?

I can answer number 1 for you...
I'm right-handed but I've found that using the phone with the left hand, it works really well. Your thumb switches very easily between the jogdial (scrollwheel, whatever!) and the keyboard making navigation and button pressing a breeze. Also, whilst the UIQ 3 interface takes some getting used to at first, it really does work much better in flip closed mode than UIQ 2 on the P910 did.
Similar situation with flip open / off but since the stylus is normally used extensively in this mode, one-handed operation is not really an issue. Again, the UIQ 3 interface works much better once you get used to it.
Just my opinion of course

I took the flip off a few months ago.At the beginning it was a bit difficult to get used to it but after a while it proved to be very easy and practical. I know that I don't want flip in P series any more. Regarding my P990 it is absolutely stable phone and I do so much with it daily, business and entertainment. But memory issue is still there so one must be aware that multitasking is reduced i.e. memory and usage itself should be monitoring during multitasking or some apps may be autoclosed due to low memory.
Having said all of that I thing you should go for P1 if money is not an issue for you. It has 4 times more ram, better camera and, what is best for me, its 25 percent smaller than P990.
If there was no P1 announcement I would wholeheartedly recommend P990 since that phone gives me so much joy on a daily basis. |

@Geezay
If you can afford it the P1 it is a much better proposition as besides anything else it has an extra 64mb Ram much better camera and and vastly improved OS that currently now one can be sure will make it's way onto the P990. The extra Ram, 15 shortcuts and the improved camera really make it a much better choice IMO.
