Sony Ericsson are NEVER going to release a hybrid (dumb) phone and that is what I hate about SE.

I wish, and I HOPE it will happen, it's just SE are more of a profit driven company than they were in the K750 days. They don't care about producing good phones anymore. Their K850 is seriously flawed.

the best of is yet to come.. just have some faith saying k850 is seriously flawed when the phone hasn't been released yet is very very strawberry premature.

well we are 3 years later and not much has changed. Nothing positive actually.
their quality is still not good, when their phones come out they need to wait months for updates to make them equal to the competitors, but by that time new high end phones hit the market.
SE's is way behind on AMOLED. They still don't put AF on all their cam phones, battery life still needs to improve.
Design is getting more boring every year, no soul.
No divx/xvid playback
More phones need xeon flash
Free GPS soloution like nokia is doing
FM radio without needing to connect the earphones
Focus on Android, forget symbian
Bluetooth 4.0 should be used in the phones that they recenly annouched
new bluetooth watches with 4.0
They should link the Belgian market with that of the Netherlands instead of France.
More high end phones, less none smartphone mid level ones.
flash light in all their low end phones
better marketing campaign
new management
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

@bart erm,Nokia don't always put auto focus in their phones either. Same goes for Samsung or LG

Sony Ericsson future ? I think they are slowly, but steadyly going toward bancruptcy. I've been their customers for many years. Recently purchased Xperia X2 and I can confirm that their build quality is decreased significantly + software is bugy and using handset is a real pain. It also lacks rSAP Bluetooth profile which mean it can't pair with all modern build in car audio hands free systems ... In the same time there are a lot of other producers on the market which are eating Sony Ericsson market share as they offer higher quality handsets on much lower prices. Therefore I believe their days on the market are numbered... |

Sony going bankrupt? I don't think so. Recently their profits were back up going in the right direction & their phones have slowly become better & more reliable finally putting behind them their disaster days from the K850i onwards. I have not had any problems with my Elm & it's camera is great. The X10,Aino & apparently the Elm are selling well. I spoke with O2 & they said the Elm had sold out at one point. So no I don't think Sony will go bankrupt but if anything the more vulnerable side is Ericsson cos they don't have the same reputation or world wide sales as Sony does. If & it's an if Sony Ericsson went their seperate ways both would suffer losses but Ericsson would more than likely come out worse than Sony. I thought this at one point that they might not last but they are surviving the recession so far. As for technology yes Sony Ericsson were a bit slow on catching up with certain things but things have & are changing.

Seeing the success of x10 and vivaz, i dont think that they are going towards bankruptcy.
They have changed. With their products blog, they are interacting with the world now compared to the past where there was absolutely no way to communicate with SE. Adding additional features on updates is another good thing they are doing...like HD video recording for x10.
Earlier, SE phones used to have outdated hardware in terms of CPU...eg P1i/g700/g900. But now, that has changed. Vivaz is still the most powerful symbian phone in the market and x10 is on par with the best. They have moved from fastport to micro usb and 3.5mm jack.
With x10 mini/mini pro, vivaz pro just around the corner, they are heading towards the right path of success. It'll take time for SE to get back its reputation but the important thing is that they are working hard for it. |

Another main gripe about is their pricing policy , they used to price their phones very high but now elm is rightly priced....
hope they can x10 mini / x10 mini pro price it well ....

Sony Ericsson are doing OK now but they still need to up their game, they need to think outside the box and give us something unique in their upcoming phones (after vivaz pro). they also need to provide a lot more customer support especially those who brought the Satio (which was Sony Ericsson's flagship phone until they dumped it) they need to also give more frequent software updates to all their devices. Another main thing is that they should rectify all of the issues the Satio has (I made a petition for it please sign)(it has 930 people currently)

SE Must Upgrade
Video Resolution: Most SE Phones are limited to QVGA on Mid-High End Phones, and QCIF for Low End Phones.
Camera MegaPixels: Alot of 2.0 and 3.2mp SE phones out there specially Low-Mid End Phones, and their High End Phones are Limited to 5.0mp(c901,c902,c903,k850), and very few 8mp and 12mp
Firmware Updates: It takes a lot of months before they release new firmware updates to their phones.
Release Dates: they are late on the releasing their phones on time
High End Functions: Wlan, GPS, Display Type: Capacitive Touch Screen, Amoled, 16m Color Display, they are Rare to their phones, they usually use TFT Resistive and 256k Colors since then
This Depends on the User:
Fast Port vs Micro USB Port
Fast Port vs 3.5mm Jack
M2 Card vs Micro SD
IMO Having a Walkman brand and Cybershot brand was a good idea and it was successful, but they are also limiting their Phone line up to what they will include functions/features in their phones. that walkman phones will never be better in photo quality etc etc than cybershot phones and cybershot phones will never be better in audio quality etc etc than walkman phones
Walkman + Cyber-shot Brand
i hope they change the way they make their phones

I think they are doing quite right actually. The shift to smartphones is, though I don't like it, a must and I think they are a nice step forward to the competition with the green heart. Care about it or not, but I think more and more people get aware of caring for nature in ways like this too. I think SE will further implement it in their portfolio and make all their phones as nature-friendly as the select few called GreenHeart are now and that might be another reason to buy an SE phone for some people.

The Elm is their lifesaver this year. The X10 is doing good too.
I wish the X10 Mini (not the pro, that must be offered on higher end) will be offered on the lower end segment, like the Elm. So it can compete against the Nokia 5230 and Samsung Corby.
And updates in their previous releases like the doomed Satio.
And a full touchscreen dumb phone with the branding, like the W960i and Aino.
But then, I can see that will continue to fall but not to bankrupt.

Power and the battery, that's the way to the future as its currently the only limitation to these devices. I also suspect the "phone" part to become second to other functions and maybe some further intergeneration to clothing etc.. (clip it into your jacket for a head up display, voice activation etc.) the last bit maybe longer than 5 years away! |
