it may be that for a 4gb memory card but for the 4gb phone it will be 3 or 4 times that price

hmm both are good in their own specs.. i might go for the W850 which are more stylish and i still have the 4GB MemoryStick ProDuo from my old K750 that could save a lot of money with a lot more space for music and video..

You are quite right. W950i = no camera. If it had a decent camera, it would be a near perfect phone...
However, as far as the Christmas gift choice is concerned, I can confirm that the absence of autofocus and a real flash (instead of the supplied LED flash) on W850i is a pretty big minus. But on the plus side, daylight / outdoor pictures are quite crisp. Indoor / low-light ones are another matter altogether, sadly. Other features are pretty impressive, including smooth multitasking, the outstanding Walkman application and good sound quality. Personally, I don't find the navigation buttons hard to use. For me, they are better than the joystick. The slider mechanism on my W850i is not loose or unreliable. Still I use it carefully and believe that every non-candybar phone should be treated kindly. |

I've had a K800i for almost a year now; I'd a K750i before that. The joystick on the K800i hasn't been a problem so far - it's much better than the K750i, although it is starting to get a wee bit sticky (how do you clean them anyway?).
The camera on the K800i is excellent and the music player is good enough: not exactly iPod user-friendly but OK. Worth getting some better earphones though - the ones I got as standard were rotten. And £30-£40 for a 4GB M2 card is a good investment.
I've seen K800is for £90 PAYG, although they'll be locked to a network I suppose.
Overall, I'd highy recommend the K800i. |

If your mum doesnt mind spending up to £250(read tht on first page so sorry if its changed as I only read 1st and 3rd pages) then how about a k810i? The problems with k800i's joystick was fixed wth this model and a lot of small but significant changes were made.....I had a k800i and a few phones after a k810i and can say by far the k810i is better...I have just given the k810i to my dad and hes getting rid of the w880i he had which is similar to the w850i
So tbh i would go for the k800i or if u can k810i as the media player is pretty good on these phones aswell...however if you do decide to go down the walkman route i may be able to sort out a second hand but absolutely mint t-mobile w880i in Flame Black |
