Bluetooth security idea:

These Bluetooth worms that come around sometimes when in a public space, where the user is constantly bombarded with "Accept this file?" messages from an infected handset, render the 'receiving' handset unusable until either you leave the vicinity, or cave in and accept the infected file.

Why not something intelligent in the firmware where the phone displays a prompt after you decline receiving the file a few times:

"You have declined receiving a file from ‘handsetname’ 3 times, would you like to temporarily block the sender for 20 mins?"

Or block the sender for longer, etc...

With these sorts of worms on the increase, this would be the perfect, simple, yet highly effective and intuitive idea that I would like to see SE adopt perhaps not only for the K800 but other phones alike.

Just thought id start a thread for features we might like to have added to the firmware.

I'll start it off for a request to bring back the TORCH function by using the orange focus assist light as a torch. It may be orange but its better than nowt!

for me the torch is really useful for getting upstairs when getting home late and drunk and you dont want to wake up everyone by turning on the lights

Haha, I totally agree.....the torch was the drunkard/stoners best friend!!! I miss it so much!

If enough people pester Sony Ericsson by emailing them about the lack of the torch on the K800I & how much of a useful feature it was & how they really miss it then SE might decide to stick it back on the K800Is replacement when they get round to making it.

Auto backlight adjustment!

The phone has a camera in front, so why not just sample the light level at each keyboard unlock eg.?
My display is too bright at 100% for indoor use, and too weak at 50% for outdoor use...

At least there could be a timed adjustment switching to 50% when the time is passed 23:00, and back up at 08:00.

I agree with the backlight comment. I find when I am in bed using my phone it is far too bright even on 50%

Having bluetooth work in the background (DragonEye)

What fantastic ideas!
Esp. Background Bluetooth, I hope SE are listening to this.

Contact Sony Ericsson:
(AU) http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]er=4000&template=ph1_2&zone=ph
(Swiss) http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]er=4000&template=ph1_2&zone=ph
Then select a relevant topic under 'Contact By Email'.

This is the link that counts, guys!
If we all do our bit and pitch in our 2 cents, we could make a world of difference! This doesn't mean each of us copying and pasting ths thread to them, but maybe selecting out top 4 ideas and pitching them accross.

If the response is overwhelming then they will sit up and listen, particuarly seeing these are all great ideas for any SE model.

Perhaps Blutarsky could put this link in the first post?

WI FI (or Wlan). I know, there needs more harware, but maybe as a dongle, like the laserbeam or the camera or the FM radio for the T68.
Why not add a Rj45 jack on that dongle as well?

It might be an improvement for the next version (K810 perhaps?)

In this case I would also suggest to improve the lenses protection that opens easily once in your trousers pocket.......

And maybe also a mechanic zoom?

Another wish for improvements of the K800 firmware is to be able to turn fligtmode on or off without having to turn the phone off and on again.

To bring the torch back would require different equipment. Xenon vs. LED. Xenon is a gas enclosed system while the LED is designed to burn continuosly. In short, no torch for the k800i.

i found this torch java program that lights up the red led to use as torch on the k800i...

http://torch.advanta.se/

I don't dare to try it, how about you?

also I would like sony ericsson to add "user-define" screen size for games/applications which i don't know why it doesn't have it since most sony ericsson phones has it but k800i don't have

I've tried the torch app and it works. It makes the camera trying to auto focus. Look in the thread about K800i torch and you will see that a lot of people have tried it.

Try it. It works quite well. It was invented by a fellow Esato'er. Very handy.
