Quality of SE phones |

My opinion is that SE/E phones are reliable and strong for moisture and drops. My z1010 and t39 have dropped dozens of times and used in heavy rain without damage.

@NitroFan: I don't know why you're getting your panties in a twist. Like I said the normal lifespan of a phone is 2 years- phone collectors like Boba and his Eriman team are the exceptions. They could probably make more durable phones with aluminium bodies but that will only push up the prices of phones and then again you will complain. Right now it seems they're just trying to create a balance between reliability and affordability.

I dropped my K750 when pulling it out of a pocket. It fell from about 1,5m height and hit concrete floor.
Result - no damage at all, not even a mark on the housing. I call that quality! |

@brix25
Do you think the casing of the RAZR added that much to the cost of the phone ?

@aqualung: The V3 is not quite the best example for an affordable phone made of aluminium...initially it was relatively expensive now you can get for around £100.

My last SE was a k750i and i really liked it apart from it feeling really really cheap- so I sold it on ebay. I then changed to a Moto SLVR and trust me this is the most well-made handset I've ever used- the sides are made of some sort of glass fibre and not a squeak. I've stepped on it so many times (all 24 stone of me) and dropped it loads of times. It just feels like one integrated unit rather than blobs of plastic stuck together. I even think its better made than the nokia 8800. I now have an n80- which is really good feature wise but is the WORST when it comes to build quality. The buttons feel like they will come off- the slider is wobbly, the battery cover is creaking away. The difference between a SLVR and an n80 when it comes to build quality is bigger than the difference in camera quality.
Just as an aside- did any of you guys see the boxes that the early RAZRs (silver ones) came in? Now that was heavy duty.... |

THIS IS NOT A SWEET SAYING.
I think that u ain't lucky if you if you ever say your SE is having a problem. to me I have been using my Z600 for the past 1 and 1/2 years from now and it falls like a devils child. But to my amazement i always pick it up and use t like nothing happened to it. It has never have any software fault nor a broken case instead I continued to love it and The more my service provide upgrades there packages the more I apply it to me and it always serves the purpose I want it to serve.
I know you will say it is an old phone but its durability has no match. At time it fall on Ironic materials but nothing happens to it.
I am still using and will continue to use it until ist gave up the ghost which I doubt it will.
This is not a sweet saying.

at least se could put on some models a kind of belt, like /// did it once. imo k750, w8 etc would be worth for it. the problem is. that many fones look like plastic, not just "feel"

Well if the majority of the population spent only two months on a phone, why would there be 24 month contracts? Really, it isn't that hard to make a durable phone. Think of the 3310. Two pieces of plastic halves connected to form one shell, and up to know people are still useing them with no troubles. I reckon that even cheap Nokias (1110) are more durable then SE's top line.

I agree up to a point, but if others are building good quality phones so can SE I simply do not accept it is a lost cause, without the good will of your customers you do not have a market! I understand that SE do read this forum so making our feelings known can never be a waste of time I say lets have a vote!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Now now if you cannot argue your point well please do not resort to playground name calling I am on the record as stating that I would be prepared to pay more for well constructed phone, so there will be no complaints from meat all.
I do not accept that SE are trying to hit a balance at all, they are trying to get away with cheap production methods at our expense, other manufacturers manage to produce high quality devices at good prices so why not SE? and that is fact not conjecture! I bought my GF a V3i and that is a well built unit and not that much more pricey that its competitors.
