I'm talking about the built quality. Why is it that they're so fragile? What possible reason can be behind that phenomenon? My W800 is 2 months old and I take extra care, and already i hear creaking sounds if i hold it a little tight. My friend has a K750, it fell from his pocket when he was sitting and the joystick got ruined.
Compare that with a 6600, my friend dropped it when we were at his house, and it wasnt from his pocket, it was straight from the roof to the concrete ground below and all that was ruined was the screen back light, which was fixed.
Recently, the same friend got a 3250. Hold it in your hand and you know you're holding a concrete block! Its superb in built quality, no creaks what soever, and you know you're holding something durable!
Thats my prob. with SE, their phones arnt durable! |

And the worst part is their joysticks! A tiny bit of dust and bam, there goes your joystick. I have had prety bad trouble with my Kxxx phones. You know, other manufacturers can manage decent build quality.

I agree, the build quality could and definately should be better.
I have the W810i and man it feels really plasticy and cheap.
A lot of people have said to me 'why get rid of your Nokia 6630 and get that'. Then I have to keep explaining it is actually much better it just looks and feels cheap.

quality is I think proportional to the price of its phones

I have been bemoaning the build quality of SE phones for some time without many takers, so I welcome this thread in the faint hope some one at SE might just take notice.
The build quality of SE phones is at best poor, it is quite shocking how they can keep trotting out devices with such a s**t build quality.
Nokia have recently been told from the top to make build quality a priority and it shows, Their flag ship models have a nice solid feel, nice smooth actions and are built using good quality materials so different to the creaky cheap plastic mouldings and s****y paint finishes SE feel are good enough for their customers!!
I am very careful with my phone yet after 12 months use my P910i looks likes its 3 years old paint rubbing off all over it all the naff bright metal plastic finish on the lens bezel fell off in week one this is simply not good enough SE wake up or lose your so far loyal customers
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

I would be prepared to pay a bit more for a phone that was built of some quality materials plus SE phones tend to be more expensive than their competitors!!

My T68i was OK so was my T610i but all my P series phones have been very flimsy and on such an expensive phone it is not aceptable

Agree. My P910 is also scarcely a year old and has spent most of that year cocooned in a krusell pouch . Still the paint is starting to flake off the flip. Cheap plasticky finishes do not do a phone like this justice.
If they could give it something like the finish on the N70 say...
Shall we start a petition to SE ? Or do you think some of their people visit these forums regularly ?
Anyone know what the P990 casing feels like ?

Owned a bunch of SE phones and the only issue I ever had with them, specifically the K700, was the joystick. I'm not referring to creaks and funny noises, those are things I can happily live with.
I currently own a P910i, haven't smashed it against walls but it has suffered the occasional fall- fortunately not on concrete- and I haven't had any problems.
I've got an N70 and it's built quality is not superior to the P910i, in fact I find it to be slightly more plasticky then the P910i.
Those who complain that a phone has to be indestructible are fooling themselves, modern phones are not built to last longer then two years.
In Japan the build quality of phones are even worse because the manufacturers/networks want their customers to constantly upgrade their phones.

amen
but i have to admit, this is now up to date in the whole world, buy it, use and drop it away in 2 month, cos the upgrade is here.
