I don't have a problem with windows, period. It does not crash "whenever it decides to". If the machine has AV protection and a firwall turned on (even MAC OSX has a default firewall and recommend daily patch updates to the os), then it will be fine. It's not Microsoft's fault that half the software out there is badly designed crap - it is this which is the culprit for crashing windows (aside from nasties you only get if you don't run a firewall).

Keep the pc firewalled, patched and free of dodgy software and it will run as well as a MAC (and apple recommend you do all these with their macs as well). I would even say don't worry about the AV software as long as you can contain yourself from opening spam enail.

So it's quite easy to keep a pc running as secure and stable as an Apple MAC. So until you actually have the experience of managing hundreds of windows machines on a daily basis, or running a business that sells PC's to businesses with who demand reliable workstations, then I suggest you stop drawing un-knowledgeable comparison between MAC and Windows machines. Your contempt for windows machines dates back to Windows 3.11/win95 days and those views are now obsolete.

@Axxxr, I'm not taking sides, just trying to bring balance to the force.... ahm, I mean the apple/microsoft wars. I admire apple hardware and MAC OSX, believe me I am fully aware of it's advantages and strengths. I am not blind towards apple the way apple nazi's are towards Windows.

Those sentiments I posted is not mine alone. I might not own a company as big as yours but I do have 3 multi-nationals and 24 smaller corporations that all have maintenance contracts with us. All of them have Macs and PCs. All of them say that they spend more time, money and effort keeping their PCs (networked or stand-alone) up and running. The Macs may initially cost more to acquire, but practically pays for itself in the long run. They would get rid of the PCs, only if the rest of their clients would switch to Macs.

I managed the internal support for a corporate company (not mine - i work my own business now which sounds more like the size of yours) of 200 plus machines that didn't crash all the time, didn't get viruses, etc. I agree that I had to spend more time setting them up than I did the few macs we had, but once up and running they suffered no more and no less downtime than the macs we had. Certainly it wouldn't have been worth the extra expense to have macs. Macs also have a shorter life cycle than windows machines.

I'm not casting aspersions on anyone's abilities, but I know for a fact that windows machines can run reliably because I can achieve that in any environment where I find windows computers. I have achieved it for the last 7 years in various businesses including my own, for both corporate and home users.

When I started at the corporate lan job the machines were a mess. The previous support team had no idea how to setup a reliable corporate windows network. They didn't push antivirus patterns to machines, they didn't run windows update, they didn't know how to identify between faulty hardware and software incompatibilities. It was a complete and utter pigsty of crashing windows machines. By the time I was there six months, staff no longer complained about crashing machines, managers of departments had stopped raging downstairs to harass tech support over lost productivity and so on.
