How can a normal phone be better than a smartphone. Can you watch full movies on a k750i? Can you download gameboy roms on k750i? Can you play 3d games while listening to mp3 and running smartmovies and opera, etc on the k750i? Definately NOT!

its pointless to compare those 2 fones. i have 6680 and w800i, each has its positive and negative sides. the reason why we choose a certain fone depends on individual usage and taste imo

@nokialover, do you think everyone needs all those "features". If yes, then nokia should only be manufacturing smartphones.. Why are they still continuing with the series 40 series...?

You should read up a litle before posting

yes, you can whatch full movies on K750 and in full screen, and the difference of screensize isnt really that big.

yes, you can run 3dgames on K750, in fact you can even run the series 60 3d javagames and they actually run better on K750 than on the series 60 devices. We've been doing this since K700 came out.

Yes, you can run opera mini, which is a fullblown html browser in java

No you cannot run gameboy roms, so what, who needs gameboy roms, I have 500 mobilegames as good as any gameboy rom if I need to play games. Besides gameboy roms are for kids, smartphones are aimed at business and adults, I couldent care less about gameboy roms. If I were so much in love with playing gameboy games Id use a gameboy. My choise of phone is not based on ability to play gameboy roms. Grow up

No, you cannot play 3dgame, while listening to mp3 and watching movies and browsing the web at the same time, you cannot do this on any series 60 either but need to switch between them, and even if you could what would be the point in doing these 4 things simultaneously ? Thats kinda idiotic dont you think. You either listen to music or whatch a movie or play a game or browse the web. But you would never do all 4 at the same time. That would be rather messy. But you can actually multitask on the K750, you can for instance minimise the mp3 player or radio while working with other things on the phone.

Point is, a phone like K750 are so well featured standard, that smartphones doesnt really have that much more to offer, except the possibility to add new software and codecs of which most is stupid and unneeded.
For instance K750 allready support every audio and video codec needed to play both vide and audio in high quality, theres no need to be able to add support for a bunch of other formats that basically deliver nothing better.
Most of the software you can get for smartphones are more or less pointless, whats the point of 1000 different caloriewhatching softwares, or 1000 different calculators, 1000 different compasses etc. There are a few areas in which software that are actually usefull can be installed, mostly the rest is just nonsense filling.

Point is that the features allready offered standard in the K750 will suffice for like 80% of the users. The remaining 20% needs smartphones for serious use. Not because they are silly nokialovers who cant give better reasons for buying a nokia, but because they are adults that needs a businesphone offering the ability to run more serious software than gameboy roms.

@numb, i can do that!
i can play a 3d game, browse the web, check my mail and chat with a friend all simultaneously......without messing things up!

I know it feels idiotic...but i'm so used to it now that i can't imagine going back to a "normal" phone like the K750.

But that doesn't mean the K750 IS "inferior" to any other smartphone.
The K750 is intended for quite a different set of users...

hehe - I can to - on my pc.
But I cant get used to doing all that stuff on a tiny mobilephone. Propably something to do with my advanced age

And sure nokialoverx is absolutely correct in trying to point out that a smarphone gives more advanced options for enhancing the phone by the user for the user. No doubt about that.

Its just that I feel that option is generally overrated, by those endorcing the importance of it.
Statistics, surveys, etc. clearly show that the real market for smartphone functionality is very low. The marketshare for people aware and in need of the smartphone functionality is at most 20%. The rest 80% buys for other reasons, such as basefunctionality and basefeatures of the phone, design, tradition, etc. This is what matters to most. The biggest reason why the marketshare of symbian and other smartphones are higher than 20%, is because nokia produce so many phones based on symbian, but a hughe number of those buyers havent got a clue that its a smartphone they bought, and would never even consider enhancing it by buying software to get new features. They simply buy them for the same reasons as those not buying smartphones, basefunctionality/features, design, tradition etc.

Smartphones is just fine for those that need them, I have nothing against smartphones as such, but the idea often expressed by the nokiapeople that every Tom, Dick and Harry, between the age of 9-80 really really need smartphones to be able to buy and install software for lots of dollars are just overrated and mainly sponsored by the industries desire to earn more money by selling more software.

By far most users only need/want a god well designed phone with a nice set af basefeatures. And put in perspective K750 is certainly such a phone that can deliver most of what the majority wants from a phone. But of cource its not perfect or the best phone in the world or anything like that. And its not better than a smartphone per say, though certain features like camera may be better than in available smartphones.

Whats best solely depends on the individuals needs and whishes, and the money they are able to spend.

Very well put numb, and i couldnīt agree more! I mean, half the staff here at my work donīt have a clue what their non-smartphones are capable of, let alone what a smartphone can. They generally share my opinion as well in that "ok, you can install a lot of tiny apps for a tiny device, but why? You could use a proper PDA/laptop/desktop computer for that" why use a swiss army device when you have access to proper tools? Just because you can? Look, the wheel is already invented!

Well,
We're a bit off the point:"k750i or 6680?"
I upgraded my K700i to K750i about 3 weeks ago and right now i'm really happy about it,altough it is twice more expensive
Here in Iran 6680 is about 40$ cheaper than K750(both unbranded & without gurantee).
So i hesitated which one to buy too. But since there is no gprs & 3g available here(!!!) it was meaningless 4 me to buy a smartphone 4 business uses!!!
By the way, now i have a really good 2MP cam and also a high quality MP3 player, which is also small, light(er than 6680),AND beautiful which won't seem just like a brick in my pocket!!
K750i's Jbenchmark results aren't very much different from 6680's,even despite 6680's 220 Mhz processor.
One more thing about the 2MP cam:if u have the world's best digicam but not available at special moments u wanna take pics ,so what's it's use?
But with k750i u have a good quality cam always with you, making it possible to capture those special moments.
Anyway, i'm completely happy with my choice ,k750i,MUCH better than that bulky 6680.
I'm seeing 4ward to P990 which has all the abbilities of k750i+touchscreen+smartphone.

Afaik, the 6680 has a 1.3 mp cam which imo is good enough for taking quality pics..
You can't "generalise" that the K750 is "better" than the 6680 or vice-versa.
It is just that for you, the k750 seems a better option...

For me, the slightly inferior cam of the 6680 is not a big deal at all.
As for the looks, i'd say we differ in opinion here too!
The 6680 (to me) is quite a good looker!
On the contrary, i find the K750 a tad ugly... the design is not as good as some previous models...

If people were to agree on all matters, the world would be quite a different place!

@whizkidd
I agree with u,it's just the matter of different opinions.
Comparing a smartphone with a Non smart one is completely wrong,it's just like comparing a bike with a motorbike!!!
4 me the nice user interface + good screen quality are the major pros.
One more thing is that in order to print a good quality 10*15 cm pic at least 2MP is necessary, and since the pic quality depends on so many factors such as type of matrix(CCD or CMOS),the lens,....,so a 1.3 MP cam is just more than a bit more qualitative than a 2MP
