They too are speculating if real or not, although one of them reckons it is real and will use the new M2 mem stick!
Personally dont like the look of phone so hope it aint real! LOL

stop saying it's low end! as walkman phones, the w550 IS low end compared to this one, with external memory.

Wait a minute!
Maybe this is why, at the last minute they changed the W600's name to W550, because, they were making a different W600 with similar specs but with external memory!
So, the W600 went to the W550 so that this could be the W600.
W550 = No external mem
W600 = External mem support, (M2?)

i think why so many are suggesting low end is because we dont know 1. if its real and 2. the specs. just that there appears to be a memory slot.
so people are just going off the looks and the looks suggest low end as it looks cheap and nasty.
it may very well not be as this may just be a mock up and better materials maybe used in the finished product (if it is real)
but on looks alone it looks cheap and companies can have more than one low end phone in a different form to appeal to people who prefer flips |

I can't say I love it but it isn't that bad. The camera does look quite horrible, you can't make a clamshell that looks like a camera and with the W900 SE has made it clear the camera isn't the emphisis any more but ti make the camera ugly is definaitely wrong. I think we should wait a while before making a judgement, SE phone usually look good on presentation and this looks like a battered up prototype.
I know there is one thing that annoys me, Sony is pushing SE too much to push the Walkman line. I have nothing against the walkman line which obiousely is trying to part with SE's usual conservative designs. The problem is that the balance in SE's lineup between Walkman and nonWalkman isn't good. Almost everything mid to highend is a walkman now and there aren't too many nonWalkmans being announced lately.
I don't want a signature anymore. |

they changed the original w600 name to w550 in order to make a quadband version, called w600.
this one could well be called w700.
@slattery69, all phones look cheap in spyshots, even the not-exactly-low-end p990 did. i am applying pure logics here: do you consider the w550 low end? i'm sure not. then the mulan is definitely not low end, because it can't be worse spec'd than the w550. sony ericsson doesn't want to do such thing:şthey killed the s600 for something.

im making no decision on where its low end or not as for one i dont even know if its real.
my decision on it is it looks like cheap crap, however as i pointed out in my post above it may be a mock up (if real) and the finished producted may look a lot different
but i stand by my opinion on the info at hand ie some pics it, that looks like a piece of crap.
i will do what i always do and base my final decision on what is announced and what se show. |

One must agree with me: its very strange to put a mirror on the phone, when theres an external colour screen already. And also, i find it strange that theres no flash in the phone. But then again, as also proved with the w900i, the camera isnt that important to se in the W-series. But i think that its a bad decision to make seperate music and camera orientated phones, especially when se is such a small company, that doesnt have the size to make 2 complete series of phones, if you know what I mean.
The strength of a mobile phone is that it very well could be the only device you need to cary around. To make limitations to the different series (w & k) is therefore a very bad idea. and i think that a lot of people will agree with me

yeah i agree se or sony in particular so want to topple apple with their ipod they are going to release so many walkman devices there is already far to many sony mp3 players and its making them look desperate they will try the same with the mobiles but i hope they dont push it to far or there will be a huge marketing problem with sony should people buy their phones or their mp3 players |

Foxconn International Holding seem to be the maker of this phone
Recently there's a news report in Taiwan saying Foxconn have an agreement with SE to make phone for them...
Reason I mention names is....the PCB sticker clearly stated FIH !!!
In HK....this company listing code is FIH
just seem like they have very poor control on prevent stuff from leaking.
Of course it might be something else for FIH to stand for.
But the point tht this picture first appear in a Chinese/ HK site does make my theory very close......
FIH also make stuff for Apple...I wonder how Apple control their stuff from leaking
