Hi there and welcome to Esato!
Itīs not recommended that you upgrade your phoneīs firmware if you have the firmware version: R1L002 because the newer firmwares actually makes your phone worse and lesser. If you already have later versions of the firmware (other firmware then R1L002) then i recommend you to wait for a newer firmware. If you keep an eye on esato forums then you will surely see when the new firmware turns up (people here will then start new threads and discuss it) or you might find it in other "soft ware threads" here.
To check wich firmware version you have, you do the following: push the joystick once to the right, then press the * key, the push joystick to the left twice, then push the * key, then push joystick once to the left, then press * key. Then you get a menu whrer i thin it says "program info" press that and the you should see at the top of that entry wich firmware version you have.
And if you have the right settings and drivers and java software installed on your computer, you should bee able to update. Check this link: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=106754#post1462362
But i donīt recommend an update right now. Search the forum and for youself what others say about the new firmwares.

Got my handset back from SE. They claim it is now fully unbranded, though I have my doubts (various links to Vodafone Live persist in menu items). It's been upgraded to R1N, and sure enough, I believe I have the MS corruption bug. Can someone tell me whether the bug only affects write operations? In other words, am I OK to pull stuff (eg pictures) off the MS via USB, or could that also corrupt my MS?

I'm having serious issues with SEUS with my W800i, its fine on my K750i and my P910i so its a bit puzzling! Once it gets to 39% of the update it says "error in communication with device", "please restart".
I have restarted 5 times now and I keep getting the same result! I have restarted my machine loads of times too.
When i turn on my phone and look at the settings its like the phone has only been half updated. Here's the info,

I talked to Sony Ericsson Customer support and the guy didn't really have a clue what I was talking about, he told me to do a hard reset, but that only got rid of some important texts, games and gprs settings! He said I should bring it to my nearest SE Service Centre, but there aren't any in Ireland! Also My Camera no longer works, it gives this error message, "Wrong camera driver version (0.9). Please update camera driver to 4.5 or later" Also the media player keeps crashing and when you adjust the volume, the screen goes blank!
Please can someone help as it would be much appreciated!

Does your phone work at all? If it works then donīt bother doing anything more since there are no firmwares that is any good. Only the old R1L002 is any good. And that one seems to bee impossible to get. I cantīget it here in Sweden anyway. I spoked to a repair firm that SE uses and they say that they canīt get a hold of it (itīs on SE:s server and i donīt know if they just wont let anyone to use it) |

I dont know what the error for code 3 is tho. your phone is reporting to the software that it is version R1NA035 and that you are trying to update it again, but it falls over at the above point.

Mine apears to have stopped due to an error as well but after taking the battry out and putting it back in, the phone started up with the new version and my camrea is fine.
