Well off course i also hope that the next firmware will fix everything, and most of all the crappy mp3 player. But im not entierly sure that SE is fully aware about the issue with the mp3 player and thus just put their effort into the other issues such as file transfer and camera...but thats just me being a little pessimist! Hehe.
Anyway i got impatient and angry and turned my phone in for "repair" instead. Im sure that there will be a firmware someday that will fix everything.
One other thing: i think (but i only took a few pictures) that the camera produced pictures with lesser quality after the first upgrade R---035. But i might be wrong. Anyone noticed this? |

Hey sorry if im splitting this thread up a bit, but im strugling to read 180 pages  . I dont know if this has been mentioned, but i cant update the formware of my phone through SEUS It bring up a window telling me to disconnect phone from USB cable then shut it down and wait 20 seconds, so i do, then it tells me to hold the "c" key down then connect the phone to the USB cable well holding the "c" key, it then says wait 15 seconds and i do and i wait longer as it says to wait till the status bar keeps moving so i keep waiting and waiting and have a guess what? the status bar still doesnt move.
I will e-mail Sony Erricson if you fellas dont know, but i thought you lot maybe able to offer more assistance!

But the two latest firmwares sucks bigtime so i personally wouldn´t recommend them. And the old/first firmware is not avilable on SE:site.
Or take your phone to a SE service centre and tell them that you want them to flash your phone with the old/first firmware.
I should ad that most people say that you can re-flash your phone with older firmware, so lets hope that that is true!

Kool, im just going to try it now, i just want new firmware mainly as im after better video bitrate support, but agter reading posts i dont fancy taking the risk...

Well, SE Development Manager says one can re-flash the phone to the previous FW, however this will also flash all your data. you'll lose all your contacts, files, everything you have inserted on your phone will be deleted. Of course i did not accept this and am still waiting for a solution. The funny part, thou, is that i told him that if SE had a software for backup purposes, i would flash my phone. But SE does not have this software, so i couldnt. Fact is that this guy, Development Manager for SonyEricsson Americas, did not know that SE does not provide a backup software! oh my god, wtf is SE doing??? i miss my Nokia... |

Have you installed the Update Service USB files? Remember the "C" key is the key on your phone not on your computer keyboard. I made the same mistake before (I'm pretty dense sometimes DOH!!)

All the files you're (for the people that want to downgrade their firmware) looking for are here ftp://64.92.166.206/sonyericsson_files/
Someone should try it out and let's see whether downgrading works with these files.

Thanks for this but i think i need some kind of flashing device for these files? Does anyone have the URL:File Protocol files so that i can use seus?
I'm guessing here but i think they will be named something like this -
HL1_125952-EU1-MR2_000000_0000_R1L002 and
HL1_125952-EMEA3-MR2-B_000000_0000_R1L002
If you've ever updated to the R1L002 firmware via seus they will be located in this directory -
C:Program FilesSony EricssonUpdate Servicesoftware-data

hi
i noted bug on my firmware (R1N035). evryone tels, that there is a MS coruption bug. with my 64Mb i havent notised him. but recently i buoght 1Gb sandisk Ultra II card. i when i try to copy mp3 (or other files) to phone (MS card), i can only copy 3files instead of 15 (somtines none). and when copied these files act strange (play anothes songs suonds). it ish wrey strange.
does this R1N035 act like i describe, or my card is bad? |

Yes, I have exactly the same bug and yes, it is the MS Duo -corruption bug that came with R1N035. |

are there any programs for flashing your SE unit other than those with payments? SEUS is a bit buggy sometimes.

ok these are the bugs i found in the new R1NA005 if i'm correct. the one released in the third week of octobre.
anyways i found a lot of bugs untill now:
1.)camera quality has gotten worse. with the old software i could make pictures without using the night mode when there was less light. now if i try this i get cheap pictures that look like are made by a cheap webcam. although this problem goes away if i use the night mode, it gives a lag on my screen using nightmode. so actually the camera has gotten less sensitive to light and i have to use night mode earlier.
2.)the mega bass option has been totally screwed. i can't hear the difference between the drums and the basses. really shitty. it worked really good with the old firmware.
3.)i hear this weird sound, it's not very loud, and very hard to hear. but you can hear it if you pause a song. or listen to the beginning of a song. you hear a sound like there is wind coming through some hole.
4.)i don't see the thumbnails of some pictures in the 'camera pictures' directory, they are just black. i can see them in all other directories i have made on my memorystick.
5.)as far as i know the memorystick bug still exists and give corruption when transfering files, or sometimes even doesn't copy any files at all to the memorystick
6.)ringtone volume it too low, i mean it's on the hardestoption (8) and still i can't hear it sometimes. really bad this.
7.)i have also noticed that sometimes when i use the remote or send a file and bluetooth is automatically turned on, it stays on after i have stopped sending or using the remote. i have to go into the menu and disable it manullay. this doesnt' always happen but happens sometimes. in the last firmware bluetooth was turned off automatically after you quit using the service
8.)in the last firmware i could actually find songs in my track list by pressing some letter and i would go to the songs/artists (depending on how i sorted the songs) starting with that letter (just like you find names in your adressbook) but that option isn't in this firmware anymore.
9.) and there is still this annoying sound even in silent mode when you take pictures or make a video, can't turn it off
although the positive thing is the battery life has been much better. but there is still a lot of bugs to get fixed. lets hope SE does a good job this time

How's SE's track record in fixing bugs in their software? I've seen a few posters here who's had dozens of SE's for their ownership experience. I'm sure they can answer this question. |
