Wrong, re-read the post, notice the dates. "next week" refers to the coming week. Bring your own grain of salt. |

Is it normal for SE to take this long to release a major firmware fix for a new phone ?
Will it really be a big release ? or maybe just another 038 for those who didnt get it last time.
The internet seems full of k850i users who are tired of waiting and talk of dumping the phone for something better . |

Well... No, I wouldn't call myself that. And I hate the guessing dates game, rather like the exact info stuff instead.

Don't worry guys.. I am sure the update will be here soon... ROGERS (Canadian provider) over here is releasing the K850i on Feb 5, by then or around that date the firmware HAS to be out... they are a huge GSM provider and I don't think SE is going to wait around too long in releasing the awaited firmware.
Are you KIDDING ME??? HUGE GSM provider???? They are a BABY provider at best when compared to the rest of the GSm providers out there.... What do they have - 10 mil cusomer base MAYBE???? When compared to the big names in the business they are nobody's. Just for comparison I'll give you AT&T's numbers which are at 60+ million wireless subscribers to date. Vodafone is perhaps the Largest provider with over 100mil however I do believe that includes Verizon but they are only a minority owner/investor in that venture...
My point being - SE won't be doing anything special for the Rogers launch if they haven't done it for the MUCH larger providers out there... If/when the firmware comes out it won't have squat-$hit to do with the launch. As matter of fact I VERY Much doubt that the Rogers phones will launch with anything better then 037 firmware on them since it's tried and true and Rogers would have had the time to test it out (hopefully)...
well one "feature" that SE DID fix SPECIFIC for little ol Rogers is the Caller Name fix that many NON-Branded K850i's are unable to display. Not bad for such a SMALL provider that OWNS the other GSM provider here in Canada.
When you look ONLY at Rogers #'s ... its only 12.6million as of QTR 2 2007; and if you take into account their wholly owned subsidiary, Fido ... add another 10+ Million. its not so much HOW many clients one has, but how much their charging for services & corporate users as well. Sure economies of scale play a HUGE role but I'm willing to bet no more than $30Million CAN/US (since our dollar is close to par with the US = LOSSES to AT&T Wireless these last 6mths since CAN=US par give or take 3pennies) for the last 2 QTR's each qtr for both.
Notice also that Rogers Wireless is releasing the K850i BEFORE AT&T Wireless & also released the W850i before them and their delayed Z750i will be released on Fido by end of February, most likely ALSO before AT&T. Hmm so so many firsts on Rogers if we don't have the cash, and not such a good pull/push relationship?
Hmm. These are facts by the way.

Ok this is really weird and annoying: earlier today i took my battery, sim and m2 out of my phone for about a minute and since then my phone has been turning off randomly, not restarting but just turning off! Really takes the mick hope the new firmware fixes this... |
