VERY VERY cool. Wondering if this is something SE is considering in the upcoming, awaited firmware release along with a PC Suite update.
Any stores now receiving the new QuickSilver K850i ? I ask because I wonder if the new firmware will be imbedded by default?

I just found out that I can assign my D-pad, up-down-right-left, as a shortcut to my favorite Java application. Just press D-pad up, and I get my Opera Mini launched! Wonderful. |

Don't worry guys.. I am sure the update will be here soon... ROGERS (Canadian provider) over here is releasing the K850i on Feb 5, by then or around that date the firmware HAS to be out... they are a huge GSM provider and I don't think SE is going to wait around too long in releasing the awaited firmware. |

Are you KIDDING ME??? HUGE GSM provider???? They are a BABY provider at best when compared to the rest of the GSm providers out there.... What do they have - 10 mil cusomer base MAYBE???? When compared to the big names in the business they are nobody's. Just for comparison I'll give you AT&T's numbers which are at 60+ million wireless subscribers to date. Vodafone is perhaps the Largest provider with over 100mil however I do believe that includes Verizon but they are only a minority owner/investor in that venture...
My point being - SE won't be doing anything special for the Rogers launch if they haven't done it for the MUCH larger providers out there... If/when the firmware comes out it won't have squat-$hit to do with the launch. As matter of fact I VERY Much doubt that the Rogers phones will launch with anything better then 037 firmware on them since it's tried and true and Rogers would have had the time to test it out (hopefully)... |

ah really so you can....
and shawon... you can probably use the main camera.
I seriously Doubt it... Maximum bandwidth for BT is far too small to allow for the main camera to be used for a Webcam.
But It would be pretty cool though....
Can't Some geeza programmer here do K850 HomeBreW? or a Downgrader at least? I Really dont like the battery-leech FW....

Actually that's not true. I've just experienced the use of nokia N95 as a webcam via BT. It works OK, but starts to lag if you get too far away from the computer.
But that is symbian, I hope there is a chance of the same function on java via USB. I know some digital cameras have this option, so I don't see why a camera phone couldn't have it. |

Sorry, I meant in Canada only. Of course there are bigger providers out there, we're not dumb.
SE has indeed released 038 for network providers only so this disproves your comment about them not doing anything for the "bigger" providers.
I personally don't think Rogers is that stupid, so they may have probably timed their release with the big firmware, hopefully!
