Just updated (black, unbranded) and can confirm the speed increases everywhere. The touchscreen lag that sometimes happened also seems to have gone. Unfortunately RoadSync has not been updated to 4.004 so still no Google Calendar syncing .

Something is about to happen in Sweden too. SEUS still says there is no available new FW, but it doesn't show which FW I have, and doesn't give me the option to reinstall the old FW. This is something I haven't seen before, and I have tried several times a day this week, and last week too.

UK, black, unbranded.

Update available. (105mb!)

Going to back up all my stuff and update. Hopefully this will resolve little bugs etc. Then they can start to add additional improvements. I nearly gave up on the Satio!

Can't say I notice a speed improvement, not sure.

It has resolved the only issue I was having though and that was the camera working correctly! It would freeze or strobe the flash about 25% of the time. Now there's no such issues.

Re the new firmware and my pre-existing media refresh issue/new photos not appearing in media or standby 'recent shots' tab. It has NOT solved the problem. Exactly the same. I've found a slight workaround though:

-Take SD card out
-Refresh media
-Switch phone then on again
-Refresh media
-Go to camera and take a snap (warns photo wiull be saved to internal mem)
-Now put mem card in
-Switch phone off and on again
-Refresh media

This makes the new photos visible (but not great chunks of photos taken by the phone and on the mem card in the past month) for a while, sometimes a week, sometimes less, haven't found the driver behind it suddenly not working again. Some of the steps may not be required but it seems to work for me. It was working before i did the firmware upgrade, and after it is not back to not showing me just taken photos again.

-General menus seems much quicker
-When in call with someone the bubble where their name and number is displayed also (to the right) shows their photo. Not sure if that was there before.
- Wifi seems more stable, but only played with it for 5 mins

Don't know whether i can be bothered to send it away to Sony Ericsson as suggested/offered by SE if the firmware didn't work. They said I'd have it back in a week. I'm so tempted to listen to their response as to why photos taken on a camera phone and saved on a mem card are not displayable on the phones media browser!

Cheers...

I'm bound to defend Apple since I have most experience of them recently, and because (as several people here insist) I'm a fanboy, but afaik the only bug that could "brick" the iPhone was the SMS bug. This was a well-hidden security vulnerablity that a security specialist uncovered, revealed to Apple, and they then fixed (at more or less the same time as the speciallist went public with the exploit). It was never actually exploited in the wild, so although the bug always existed, nobody ever experienced it.

Is that really comparable to the issues hitting the Satio right now?

I realise the press have egged all this on, but it's fair to say that CPW halted sales of the phone before that, isn't it? Do they do that regularly? Was the iPhone withdrawn from sale? The Hero? Why not, if they're all the same?

Yeah, You right.
I thing, SE should release Satio1 with all basic stuff, then another one with video recording and MMS. Finally third or even fourth edition with GPS, Wi-Fi and handwriting recognition. In 2 years - four Satios and no bugs reported.
Hell no!

I was glad to see this topic get back to its original purpose of discussing the R1CA new firmware, so can we keep the other discussion now in the original topic of satio pulled from sale at carphone warehouse

I'll be removing any further posts for that secondary discussion and inviting a repost in the cpw topic

thanks

Great to see they are making progress on fixing the bugs. I hope they add kinetic scrolling anytime soon, I'm always having a hard time scrolling through the numbers. Is it a bug, when I search for the first letter of the name on the contact list and it shows me a different one?.
