@Mike Graham What Network do you use your K850i on?
@Eva-m00, This firmware fix was to only resolve the camera issue and stop most of the people sending the phone back, I wouldnt think it will be released to th General public for a while or at all, you may find that a new firmware may be released this month, (Quite a big one?) Just trying to fin out about it.
@Duran, I dont think the phone is bulky at all or that the keys are not nice. The phone is simular size to the K800 and the keys are in the correct place. And the joy pad is fantastic, Much better than the joystick

I've now put my Orange card in the K850i, along with the 4GB M2, and it's gone back to showing just 3G. I'm therefore guessing it did show H before too, had I put another SIM card in.
Now, Orange DOES have HSDPA, and I've used it at home before. So, either it's been disabled or it's a different implementation to that of Vodafone (Ericsson equipment I believe). I'm not sure what other explanation there is for never seeing H with an Orange SIM card in the phone.
Of course, it's also possible that my Orange SIM isn't set up for HSDPA (just as you now have to have Web 'n' Walk max on T-Mobile to use it) anymore. I'll be rather upset if that is the case, as I wasn't aware that Orange might be doing that.

Update: checked new phone with Bluetooth headset. No audio problems except for when it's connected to Bluetooth watch, where it still takes 9-10 seconds before the audio stops stuttering.
During this time, the phone is sending the (tiny amount of) text to watch to display. Of course, the W880i and T650i can do this without affecting the audio at all.
If you play music with the old-style file manager, it's instant (literally, no delay to play audio and no stuttering) but it doesn't show the text. Disable connection to watch and the new media player is fine.
So, what have they done in the code to make it so slow? It also corrupts some text too (it's not bold text on the watch screen either) as if it's not communicating properly.
This is an annoying bug that I bet SE haven't seen (I did mention it in my report though) as few people will have the Bluetooth watch. Ironic, as it's the first SE (like the W910i) that actually has a dedicated watch icon at the top of the screen!

"its gone back to showing just 3G"
Where I'm at, I'm happy to having it on edge, which is a lot faster then gsm which is what I got with my k800. he he he....
btw, with your 4gb m2 card, do you think it is much slower than a 1gb m1 card?

I have R1CA029 too and mine shows 'E' (always) over the signal bars and '3G' when available.
It's not an E it's a G meaning Gprs. In older phones it was a light blue (cyan) upside down triangle.
Thats what I thought until I decided to take a closer look and it is an 'E'. I see the same 'E' on my W810i above the signal bars too. I am beginning to think it does support EDGE too. |

The w810 does support edge. If you have a blue triangle above the signal bar then the phone only supports gprs. If it has a letter then the phone support either edge or gprs. Hope this helps.

Which watch are you using? I'm looking for a MBW-100 which SE dont list as compatable but I dont see any reason why it wont work. Dont want music control just the caller ID stuff. |

Today I had my first problem with my 1 month old k850. When I came home and picked it up from my pocket the display was all black and the lights of the keypad light. Had to take out the battery...

@Leks
I had that today (my K850 was replaced yesterday). Hopefully it's not a hardware fault as I cannot be bothered to change it again, and this one - touch wood - seems perfect, other than the software issues.

I'd doubt that. I don't know much about Vodafone, but I'd assume they're similar to Orange/T-Mobile where different countries have the company represented individually..?

T-Mobile support HSDPA on both WnW Plus and WnW Max. It used to be on all of them but unfortunately they've tightened up the criteria now (although still a good value plan). I upgraded from WnW to WnW Plus and noticed a definite speed increase with on-mobile browsing - I also get speeds of around 1Mbps when using it as a modem so I'm definitely on HSDPA, but still no change from 3G to H. Not sure if it's something (hopefully) that can be fixed in the SE FW or if it's to do with the equipment at T-Mobile's end.
Cheers
Alan
PS - noticed today it was difficult to get the phone to switch back from 2G to 3G connection - seems that the background download of RSS feeds/e-mail was locking it to the current signal and doing a network search would just show 'no networks available'. After the globe icon stopped 'pulsing' I was able to do a search and connect to T-Mob 3G. |

@alanjrobertson
If I've understood correctly, the new firmware (which isn't yet available on the SEUS) actually has different letters to indicate which type you are connected to, whereas the original firmware says "3G" regardless.
